glkshankar Posted May 28, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 28, 2017 Hi All, I am planning to test DSM as a VM on Nutanix Community edition which is running on Dell R730. I have download the 1.02a and uploaded the disk file and the ISO file attached to the VM. Additionally added 600 SATA disks and network card. When i power on the VM and search i am able to see it and start the installation but it fails at 0% with Format error 35. This is very evident that it is a disk related error but not sure whats happening. Nutanix is into hyper converged appliance and they offer community edition free for evangelist which comes with fancy UI and CentOS KVM as hypervisor. glkshankar Posted June 2, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted June 2, 2017 It is not a virtualbox or esxi so i cannot choose the controller. Just a basic question can i not boot just with the iso/img file do i need the vmdk file ?
RacerX Posted June 3, 2017 Share #7 Posted June 3, 2017 This helped me understand the dependencies with booting a vm instead of a usb stick. http://xpenology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=29582 When you create the vm make sure to change the size from 8gb to 20gb or so....
