I've been using Synology DSM OS with my own hardware for a few months now, but recently, I ran into an issue when trying to install the Synology Surveillance Station. It turns out that the problem was related to my serial number, which is invalid due to using Xpenology. To resolve this, I installed the Virtual Machine Manager app and set up DSM on a virtual machine. I then created a Synology account, and I can now see the VM with a valid serial number.
However, the license for the Surveillance Station is still the free version, which only allows for zero camera licenses. I wanted to ask if it's safe for me to purchase additional camera licenses even though I only have the virtual machine running with a valid serial number.
