kaneelschep Posted Wednesday at 07:47 AM #1 Posted Wednesday at 07:47 AM (edited) Hi all! I searched and searched. And of course I found the tutorials for installing the latest DSM 7. That is not a problem. I have installed multiple dsm 7 systems on real and VM hardware. With arc, redpill and the other one I can never remember the name of. No problem there. But I just cant find a proper upgrade tutorial to go from 6.2.3 to newest 7. And I think this is an upgrade many would like to see, as this was the highest version of DSM 6 possible. So this must be where a LOT of people left off. So I think there are still many people with working 6.2.3 systems that just waited it out. But are ready to do the upgrade if they knew of a 100% working way I am doing this on an old intel pc. Not very exciting homemade intel i7-4770k platform with sas controller. With working data in raid configuration that really needs to survive. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks! Edited Wednesday at 07:51 AM by kaneelschep Quote
bearcat Posted Wednesday at 02:55 PM #2 Posted Wednesday at 02:55 PM Read this, digest what you read and, come back and ask spesific questions if something is unclear. Fast track: Download the latest loader here and create a bootable USB. Boot the USB, click a number of "Enter", reboot and enjoy. Quote
kaneelschep Posted Wednesday at 03:05 PM Author #3 Posted Wednesday at 03:05 PM Thank you for the reply. But i read that all yes. Its a fine tutorial for installing dsm 7. But it does not explain any specifics about upgrading. The only few sentences i see about upgrading is what i copied below. Which basically sais nothing. FOR UPGRADES ONLY: If Synology Assistant shows Not installed, or if prompted to erase the disks during the upgrade, STOP! Some or all of your array disks are not visible to DSM. This must be resolved via troubleshooting and reconfiguration before installing DSM 7.x Quote
kaneelschep Posted Wednesday at 05:43 PM Author #4 Posted Wednesday at 05:43 PM But for the specific question. Is upgrade from dsm 6 to dsm 7 really that easy as make stick, boot, install new dsm and done? Thanks. Quote
