bnokes Posted January 29 #1 Posted January 29 xpenology DSM 7.2 rr v25.1.3 3ware 9650SE-8LPML drive not showing in DSM when booted how to passthrough or show all signal disk drives (8) CPU xeon x5675 Only see the drives when I boot in bios area before OS loads and I see all the drive the controller see them and when I go in ALT+3 and change settings, every change I do still doesn't make DSM see the drives. Does anyone know any commands that can help be make the OS see the drives. every time I boot into DSM I do not see all the drives connected to 3ware 9650SE-8LPML. I have tried the command lsblk and it doesn't work, fdisk -l still doesn't show the disk. I will need command list help if anyone can help with this. Also in the RR setup I went in and added driver that looked like they would help with this controller, but nothing helped get those drive to be seen by the OS DSM Quote
Peter Suh Posted February 1 #2 Posted February 1 (edited) Looking at the latest version of rr, the module required for the controller has been removed. It is estimated to be 3w-9xxx.ko. This module seems to have existed in the early days of loader development, but I don't know why it disappeared now. Fortunately, my mshell still includes the 3w-9xxx.ko module. https://github.com/PeterSuh-Q3/arpl-modules/tree/main/broadwellnk-4.4.302 Please go to the latest release link in my profile and try changing it to my loader. Since it is a first-generation Xeon in terms of Intel generation, DS918+ will likely panic. Please try DS3622xs+. If the module included in this link does not work, I will recompile it based on the latest source provided by Broadcom. https://www.broadcom.com/support/download-search?pf=Legacy+RAID+Controllers&pg=Legacy+Products&pn=3ware+9650SE-2LP Edited February 1 by Peter Suh Quote
Peter Suh Posted February 1 #3 Posted February 1 (edited) I checked the code for compiling the module and confirmed that the latest version, 2.26.02.014, is already being used. https://github.com/PeterSuh-Q3/arpl-modules/blob/main/src/4.x/drivers/scsi/3w-9xxx.c https://docs.broadcom.com/docs/12349203 3w-9xxx-2.6.37.tgz However, there may be differences between the two sources, leaving room for compilation and improvement. bnokes Posted April 7 Author #6 Posted April 7 I see this now. I will try and update and see if this will work thank you for your time and help. I did also download these files to see if I can just add them somewhere were xpenology dsm will fine them, 3w-9xxx.c, 3w-9xxx.h, 3w-9xxx.ko, 3w-sas.ko, 3w-xxxx.ko, driver_linux-3ware_95xx-96xx_9-5-5-1codeset.zip. I know nothing about any of this. I would like to get this card working. I do not want to use the RAID controller part. I would like to make this in to HBA passthrough mode. I can't seem to find any way to do so. Online talks are that this can't be used as HBA but only JBOD mode. I think the only thing is to put it into JBOD mode, unless anyone else has any other better ways to send the disks over to DSM. bearcat how do I flash it into IT-mode? do you know? I have been playing with the settings. I will have to check that more. Thank you all for all your time and help with this matter. Quote

Since RR doesn't have the 3ware module yet, I applied this module to my mshell to be included by default. Please note that the c source location I provided is not meant to be used directly. mshell is another loader like RR. A menu-style loader build similar to RR is prepared. You can easily build the loader by proceeding in order of the menu. https://github.com/PeterSuh-Q3/tinycore-redpill/releases The recognition of the 3ware module I created should be a priority over your additional requirements.
