help getting my NAS back up and running

i came to this site and got help setting up for help setting up my xpenology NAS which i did get working and used for a while, but it kind of got shelved and i havent touched it in a couple of years maybe more.

 

Now if i remember rightly the Xpenology format wasn't compatible with with windows so i cant just plug the hard drives in to recover my photos.

The usb i used with it no longer seems to work, i thought it was just a case of changing the wifi details in the note doc on there, but plugging that in to my laptop nothing the usb dosent appear.

 

so im trying to figure out what would be the best way to get back onto my NAS, im sorry but ive no idea what version of Xpenology it would have been.
