Assistance repairing DS1812+

Hi All

 

My synology (DS1812+, running DSM 6.2-25556 which is the latest) was making a strange clicking sound. I suspected it was one of the drives, so I turned it off (graceful shutdown), then pulled the drives out of it.

 

Then, I turned it on for just a few seconds to see if it still makes the noise - the noise is still present (must be the PSU fan) I quickly powered it off (pulled power cable).

Then I put the drives back in and powered it on. Now, I get a flashing blue light, and left it like that for over 20 minutes and system will not boot. I also cannot ping its IP, or find it using DS finder.

 

So I shut it down (pulled power cable) took all the drives out, then turned it back on again to see if it boots but its even worse than it was. No flashing blue light, the fans at the back spin up. No status light. If I plug in the LAN, I can see the LAN light flashing periodically but the system never actually boots up.

 

Any ideas what could be causing this?
