Xpenology on Ugreen NASync DXP4800 Plus

Anybody tried to install Xpenology in Ugreen NASync DXP4800 Plus

I installed DSM 7 on UGREEN DXP6800 Pro

Did the installation went smooth? Any issues or tweaks while installing.

How is the performance ?

Is it better than UGOS.

 

My DXP4800 Plus arrived today. I was thinking of going with Xpenology.

I have numerous Synology systems and Xpenology. I did a lot of test with different boot loaders. My intention was to get the NVME M.2 working as storage.

I could only get 2 M.2 as storage and the third M.2 as cache. Thunderbolt don't work but the ports work as USB-c.

I updated the ram to 32GB and updated the rear fans.

Performance is outstanding. 

 

The only thing is the network led light and the hard drive led lights.

The hard drive led lights don't work.

The network led light is a constant strobe light going from the network led to the hard drive led lights. It never stops. 

 

In regards to the UGOS, I knew it would take UGOS software time  to catch up to Synology. I was not planning on using the UGOS software until the bugs are gone. I would not put my data on UGOS then lose it because of the bugs. I will stick with Xpenology. I have been using Synology since 2012.

Wich synology model did you chose in the bootloader?

The gpu acceleration works?

Any add on?

Both of NICs works properly? 10gb?

Noctua NF-A9 PWM 92mm, Brown, I wanted the unit to be quiet.

I removed the stock 128GB NVME.

I booted off of a micro SD card.

Bootloader by Peter SUH Version 25.4.6

I setup as DS1621xs+ to get the 2 NVME to work.

I then upgraded to DS3622xs+.

I did a custom to show only as a 6 bay NAS

The new Ugreen NAS is more expensive than a Synology, what will be next like Aoostar, a miniPC NAS more expensive than a PS5 Pro even?

hey @macguru8 is there any reason why you setup as DS1621+ and then moved to DS3622xs+? or generally why you moved from one build to another? I wanted to know if it was just for visual purposes or if it unlocked different capabilities? 

 

Also did you get the LED lights to work properly? with the latest arcloader and the LED add-on, the LED work properly, but the drive mapping is incorrect (at least for me). HDD #1 maps to LED light #4, HDD #2 maps to LED light #3, and so on...

Hello. I used the DS1621+ built to show my 2 NVME drives. I could not get the NVME to show with a direct install of DS3622xs+.

After the the DS1621+ I went back to DS3622xs+ and the 2 NVME drives were still there.. LED lights not working property for me.

ALso, I spent a day trying to get the hard drive mapping to work correct without any luck. I tried with ARC and Peter SU boot loader.

Disk Mapping

To make the disk LEDs useful, we should map the disk LEDs to correct disk slots. First of all, we should highlight that using is never a smart idea, as it may change at every boot.
In the script we provide three mapping methods: by ATA, by HCTL and by serial./dev/sdXugreen-diskiomon

Note

As far as we know, the mapping between HCTL and the disk serial are stable at each boot (see #4 and #9).
However, it has been reported that the exact order is model-dependent (see #9).

For DX4600 Pro and DXP8800 Plus, the mapping is .X:0:0:0 -> diskX

For DXP6800 Pro, and are mapped to and , and to are mapped to to .0:0:0:01:0:0:0disk5disk62:0:0:06:0:0:0disk1disk4

The script will use to detect the device model, but I suggest to check the mapping outputed by the script manually.dmidecode
