jfr2006 Posted May 14, 2024 #1 Posted May 14, 2024 I have the following setup: A real synology DS716+II with 2x10TB HDD in RAID 1 mode a xpenology (DS3622xs+) on a Dell R720xd with a single SSD volume and a second volume with 4*4TB HDD in SHR (RAID6). I'm trying to use hyper backup to backup some folders from the DS716 to the xpenology DS3622xs+. COnfiguration works OK, i can setup everything, but when i hit the backup now button, at the middle of the process it fails. Hyper Backup log has no useful information: Error 14-05-2024 10:07 SYSTEM[Network][DiskStation 1] Failed to run backup task. Error 14-05-2024 10:07 SYSTEM[Network][DiskStation 1] Exception occurred while backing up data. Error 14-05-2024 10:07 SYSTEM[Network][DiskStation 1] Failed to export system configuration. The messages in /var/has this information: 2024-05-14T10:07:09+01:00 DS716 synoconfbkp[19565]: share/confbkp_share_export.cpp:182 SYNOGetFSType() failed[/volume2/Vol1_Back][No such file or directory], synoerr=[0x2000 bdb_get.c:47] 2024-05-14T10:07:09+01:00 DS716 synoconfbkp[19565]: share/confbkp_share_export.cpp:366 Fail to write share info! 2024-05-14T10:07:09+01:00 DS716 synoconfbkp[19565]: confbkp_export.cpp:240 Fail to export [share] 2024-05-14T10:07:09+01:00 DS716 synoconfbkp[19565]: confbkp_export.cpp:334 ConfbkpExportEx() Failed! 2024-05-14T10:07:09+01:00 DS716 synoconfbkp[19565]: synoconfbkp.cpp:557 SYNOConfBkpExport() failed 2024-05-14T10:10:32+01:00 DS716 ftpd[21412]: share_user_acl_priv_get.c:30 syno_acl_get_perm(/volume2/Vol1_Back) Fail! 2024-05-14T10:10:33+01:00 DS716 ftpd[21412]: share_user_acl_priv_get.c:30 syno_acl_get_perm(/volume2/Vol1_Back) Fail! 2024-05-14T10:10:33+01:00 DS716 ftpd[21412]: synoftpd.c:387 Failed to read_full_path('/volume2/Vol1_Back'), message: 'No such file or directory' 2024-05-14T10:10:37+01:00 DS716 ftpd[21473]: share_user_acl_priv_get.c:30 syno_acl_get_perm(/volume2/Vol1_Back) Fail! 2024-05-14T10:10:37+01:00 DS716 ftpd[21473]: share_user_acl_priv_get.c:30 syno_acl_get_perm(/volume2/Vol1_Back) Fail! 2024-05-14T10:10:37+01:00 DS716 ftpd[21473]: synoftpd.c:387 Failed to read_full_path('/volume2/Vol1_Back'), message: 'No such file or directory' Which is very strange, since the /volume2/Vol1_Back path exists, but it was not the chosen target... Any help? Quote
jfr2006 Posted May 14, 2024 Author #2 Posted May 14, 2024 OK... I found out the reason! The 4*4TB discs made a volume (volume2) in the expansion unit (DX513) attached to DS716+II. On that volume, there was a folder called Vol1_Backup and this folder was still being shared! Remove this share and everything is now working! Quote
Balzat Posted June 21 #3 Posted June 21 Hi, I have a DS716+II with a corrupted BIOS. Unfortunately, the synology .pat files only have the last half of the BIOS content. Can you read the BIOS from your synolgy and send it to me? I would be very grateful Quote

I would be very grateful If your version is earlier than 7.0.1, you can extract it yourself with the following command: tar -xvf DSM_DS716+II_25556.pat tar -xvf DSM_DS716+II_42218.pat This is possible on MacOS or Linux. I would be very grateful I also extracted it, but only the last 4M of the BIOS ROM file is confirmed. BIOS ROM file is not officially provided through Synology's homepage, and it is said that it is not possible due to Synology's policy. Some users have requested it directly from Synology, but they say they were rejected. It seems like the right way to go is to request repairs by officially contacting Synology. Quote
Balzat Posted June 21 #7 Posted June 21 I contacted synology, they replied that they will not give me the bios file. They only offered a paid repair at the price of a new NAS Quote
