I want to run a server on an intel 1150 socket. What NAS model should the server be masquerading as?

I install Xpenology for the first time, the bootloader has started, asks to select the NAS model. Tell me what to choose. The specs are: pentium G3250, RAM- 8GB, MB- Asus h81m.

You can go for anything from DS420+ to DS923+. It mostly does not matter much. What matters is the function you need to run. Your hardware seems plenty for some basic server functions. The great thing about Xpenology is that you can switch to a different model, build the loader and boot and see if it works. It will re-migrate your hard drives and you will not lose any data.
