2. Download the bootloader v1.01 (DSM 6.0.2-8451) or bootloader v1.02a (alpha version for DSM 6.1-15047): https://mega.nz/#F!yQpw0YTI!DQqIzUCG2RbBtQ6YieScWg
3. Unzip the package. We will need 2 files: synoboot.img and synoboot.vmdk
4. Create a Virtualbox VM:

I'm just sharing my experience of how I've managed to get DS918+ DSM 6.2.3 installed on VirtualBox and it differs to what the OP provided. Software you'll need
VirtualBox
A zip extraction tool (Windows has one built-in) Or use 7-zip
Jun's 1.04b DSM loader for the DS918+ (Mega link in case the post changes)
The synoboot.vmdk file attached to this post
6.2.3-25426 version of DSM for DS918+
Steps
Extract the synoboot-ds918.zip
