Zest Posted April 17, 2023 #1 Posted April 17, 2023 (edited) Is it possible to install DSM 7.1 on ReadyNAS RN312? Is the platform powerful enough? Platform: Netgear ReadyNAS RN312 CPU: Intel Atom CPU D2701, 2.13 GHz, 2 cores, 2 threads, microarchitecture: Saltwell (2011) Closest match in Intel's public database is Atom D2700: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/59683/ Number of drives: 2 Memory: DDR3L, 4 GB, 1066 MHz BIOS: AMI v. 2.14.1219 (2011) Other: HDMI out works. I noticed that @Homeless managed get DSM 6.1 running on RN312: Booting up plain TinyCore went fine on my RN312. Although I could not get the changed boot priority order to stick. After reboot RN312 forced the boot priority back to default. It's a bit unclear if @Homeless was able to make the new BIOS settings stick (with which changed BIOS settings?) or if the boot order was manually overridden on each boot. I got quite confused by all the different loaders and DSM versions to choose from. Like this thread: DSM 7.x Loaders and Platforms https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/61634-dsm-7x-loaders-and-platforms/ Which DSM version and loader would be the best for RN312? Zest Posted June 8 Author #2 Posted June 8 (edited) The missing part for making the Boot Option Priorities in BIOS to stick was to also disable Floppy Drive BBS Priorities under Boot in BIOS. Edited June 8 by Zest Clarification Quote
