Drivers requests for DSM 5.2

Recommended Posts

According http://cciss.sourceforge.net/

The intent with newer kernels (2.6.36-ish) is to remove this overlap so the sets of controllers supported by hpsa and cciss are disjoint.

So I think cciss in our kernel (v3.10) "only" have this support:

   Smart Array 5300
   Smart Array 5312
   Smart Array 532
   Smart Array 5i
   Smart Array 6400
   Smart Array 6400 EM
   Smart Array 641
   Smart Array 642
   Smart Array 6422
   Smart Array 6i
   Smart Array E200
   Smart Array E200i
   Smart Array E500
   Smart Array P600
   Smart Array P400
   Smart Array P400i
   Smart Array P700m
   Smart Array P800

and hpsa have:

   Gen6/7 Controllers
   Smart Array P212
   Smart Array P410
   Smart Array P410i
   Smart Array P411
   Smart Array P812
   Smart Array P712m
   Smart Array P711m

   Gen8 Controllers
   Smart Array P222
   Smart Array P420
   Smart Array P420i
   Smart Array P421
   Smart Array P822
   Smart Array P220i
   Smart Array P721

   Gen8.5 Controllers
   Smart Array P430
   Smart Array P430i
   Smart Array P431
   Smart Array P830
   Smart Array P830i
   Smart Array P831
   Smart Array P731m
   Smart Array P230i
   Smart Array P530
   Smart Array P531

   Gen9 Controllers
   Smart Array P440
   Smart Array P441
   Smart Array P840
   Smart Array P440ar
   Smart Array P244br
   Smart HBA H240
   Smart HBA H241
   Smart HBA H240ar
   Smart HBA H244br

   Storage Appliance Controllers
   HP StorageWorks 1210m
   HP Storage P1224 Array Controller
   HP Storage P1228 Array Controller
   HP Storage P1228m Array Controller
   HP Storage P1224e Array Controller
   HP Storage P1228e Array Controller
   HP Storage P1228em Array Controller

If your P420i is supported by both you will have to rmmod cciss module at boot to force hpsa driver and have scsi support (/dev/sdX)

After a lot of testing with OLD hardware, I noticed most motherboard using VIA chipset for south bridge, regardless of Intel or AMD CPUs NanoBoot will not boot past the logo screen.

Just in case anyone plans to Further pursuit the x86 version of NanoBoot.

i checked this Page, Drivers List, but there i can't find anywhere the LSI 9211 or LSI 9112 which is similar the same like the ibm serve raid M1015, and this contoller is listed on this Website

http://xpenology.me/compatible/

but on the Driver requests Page not ?

i want to check this to order crossflashed m1015 or 9211,9212 LSI Cards ?

I dont't know if they will work ?

LSI 9211-8is are fine, I have 2 of them in my machine.. I would suspect that anything based on the 2008 chipset will also be ok.

thank you for your reply !

Now i have found the Website to get Information about the LSI 9212 Controller, because it have changed some time ago in the past, some years i haven't made anything with Servers....

http://www.avagotech.com/products/serve ... #downloads

so I think now that the 9211/9212 have the LSI SAS 2008 Chipset, sometime is it hard to get this simple Information

i think it is working, i will try it in future for the LSI 9212-4i, because i only need 4 SATA extra to the 6 SATA Ports that are working on my supermicro Mainboard X8SIL-F

Hi,

I have got some old 7200rpm IDE hard disks lying doing nothing, I am think of reusing it in DSM.

Modern motherboard only provides 1 IDE connector and that is all you have.

Can add support for old hardware? PATA Host Adapter? See below:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816102012

I am not a Linux geek, so I not sure this link will help or not.

Basically there is no official Linux drivers from Promise.

But someone was kind to share out this link: http://www.lugh.de/promise/

Hello,

may I kindly request your support?

I built an XPEnology NAS with the following board:

ASRock J3160-ITX (90-MXB1M0-A0UAYZ)

The NAS works fine so far, but I am facing 2 issues which I think might be caused by wrong or the lack of drivers:

1. The CPU is not identified (and probably not working) correctly:

XPEnology_CPU_issue.png

The actual CPU is a quad-core Celeron J3160, so name and number of cores are incorrect.

Additionally, the frequency always stays at 1.6 GHz, although it should be throttling down in idle.

2. LAN speeds can be extremely slow.

LAN does generally work with the onboard Realtek RTL8111GR chipset, but when I try to copy files from my PC, the speeds can be extremely slow or the connection even drops entirely.

I browsed through all settings but I could not find a solution.

Transfer speeds to my old Synology DS212+ were much faster, although the NAS is so much slower.

Settings on the PC LAN have not changed since then.

Thank you so much for the help in advance!

OK, understand.

So if there is going to be an XPEnoboot for DSM 6.0, this would probably say Celereon N3160 or N3150, because these are the closest matches in the Synology DS world (DS716+)?

Does my CPU run on 2 or 4 cores in the current state?

What about throttling?

However, all of this is much less relevant than the LAN issue atm.
