Drivers requests for DSM 5.2

Recommended Posts

As a beginner in compiling the kernel I may be a stupid question:

If it is difficult to compile a kernel for the exported symbols sys_write, sys_read and sys_open and how to do it ?

From what I know this is not done because it is dangerous, but the kernel running in old Neatgear NAS (Readynas pro) just have to export these symbols to work gpio modules and somehow nothing happens bad

I really would like to have a fully functional ReadyNAS with xpenology of operating controls HDD LED's and copy and reset buttons.

Never mind, I found solution, thank's for help

I would really like someone to add drivers for a Promise EX8350 8port SATA RAID controller! (Maybe also for DSM 5.x-xxxx)

Drivers link: http://www.promise.com/single_page_session/page.aspx?region=en-global&m=719&sub_m=sub_m_8&rsn=144

Promise has a ton of drivers available, though I have no clue which to use.

If someone needs an EX8350 controller to test drivers, please give me a PM.

Is it possible to have LSI 3008 driver (mpt3sas) in DSM?

So far i've done something in this direction but with no success yet:

1. I've tried to build kernel with mpt3sas and insert it into nanoboot zImage.

2. 3.2.40 kernel have no mpt3sas driver, so i've backported it from 3.12.32 (actually 2 small corrections needed), but can't test them without working nanoboot with my kernel. I tried to build kernels by myself but it is not so easy to guess all patches needed for Syno security and kernel configuration settings. My tries ended with synobios.ko absent symbols and kernels which can't build for some syno modules dependency wreckage.

3. To build correct kernel for nanoboot i need patches and .config with which nanoboot was built or i can give to somebody patches for mpt3sas to build nanoboot (or gnoboot) for me to test.

I have an ASRock Z87 Extreme 11/ac mb, which have 16 SAS ports (22 SATA ports including chipset) installed in a box with 22 possible hdd slots - ideal for NAS building, but can't use Xpenology with it because of no drivers in kernel. NAS4Free is obvious option since FreeBSD have this driver starting from 9.3, but I want to try Xpenology way first. I love my 15xhdd DS1511+ sitting on the table.

Hello,

Is it possible to add the driver Marvell 88se9235, there is a package on marvell site for linux.

for this card:

http://www.dx.com/p/iocrest-sata-iii-6g ... 4#overview

4 sata ports works with ahci driver, but to see the 4 others, the official driver is required.

lspci output:

02:00.0 SATA controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88SE9235 PCIe 2.0 x2 4-port SATA 6 Gb/s Controller (rev 11)

Subsystem: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88SE9235 PCIe 2.0 x2 4-port SATA 6 Gb/s Controller

Kernel driver in use: ahci

Hello to all,

I'm trying to set up a XPEnology with an Intel Server Board and an HP SmarArray P400 raid controller.

The raid volumes are not detected by "XPEnoboot_DS3615xs_5.1-5022.3" and then when I try to deploy the DSM I have no hard drives to continue.

This http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/publ ... wLangOid=8 is the HP drivers page for the controller but I don't know the Linux Kernel used with XPEnoboot and how to load the drivers.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks.

Hi,

for XPEnoboot_DS3615xs_5.1-5022.3 I miss driver support for Pinnacle PCTV DVB-S2 Stick (461e). Out-of-the-box support is impleented since Kernel 3.14, but Xpenoboot/DSM x64 still uses older kernel 3.1?). Therefore the manufacturer doesn't offer modules. I guess all needed information can be find there: http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/P ... %28461e%29

Since Xpenology.nl is gone, is this the right thread to place a driver request for 5.1? In 5.0 the TV-Stick works fine.

Or could someone tell me, where to find a very good tut to compile the modules m self to Xpenoboot? And what else I would need to do that.

If I understood correctly, you meant the a linux driver of that stick provided by the vendor? - No there is no linux driver, that could be patched to the kernel.

Which way would be the most easiest:

- To patch all needed modules (em28xx, em28178, usbcore, i2c-9, DVB,usb 2-1)?

- upgrade the Xpenobootkernel somehow to kernel 3.14 or later?

For both I would need a very good tutorial, because I never did that before.

I saw this tut, but I don't know how to adjust the process to Xpenoboot USB-Bootstick (How could I generally add drivers to Xpenoboot?)
