Drivers requests for DSM 5.2

Recommended Posts

Just dropping by to let you know that i just installed beta7 easily over gnoboot's 5.0 4458. I had the option to migrate but i didn't since i wanted a fresh start. Chose clean installation and everything couldn't have gone more smoothly! On first boot all my shares were mounted and readily accessible. Thanks for the work, i really do appreciate it.

Just a little update about beta8:

- add Marvell 9230 chip (dawicontroller, thx Symbiot78)

- add VIA Velocity network support

- add sound support

- add bluetooth support

- add wifi drivers

- add multimedia dvb drivers*

- use real mac adresses (thx gnotboot for the tip)

* If the community can help me, and tell me what are the most common adapters

Trantor: sounds great!

When do you plan on submitting Beta8 for testing?

What's the status on pata_legacy?

No ETA for now sorry.

I think I will include pata_legacy as module, so user can manually load it.

G'day Trantor, any way to stop dsm spinning down the drives "SAS" at reboot time?

I don't mind it when it's a shutdown, but for a reboot it's really annoying .... As then the drives all have to spin back up.... And that's when the order gets shuffled around I think.

?

Thanks mate

This is weird, I can't include pata_legacy nor any pata/sata driver as module:

ERROR: "syno_libata_port_power_ctl" [drivers/ata/pata_legacy.ko] undefined!

ERROR: "syno_libata_index_get" [drivers/ata/pata_legacy.ko] undefined!

@stanza : I think this behavior is hardcoded in linux kernel.

Gday again Trantor.

Hey just wondering if you can get / add virtio_blk up and going?

Managed to get This Beta7 up and running under KVM on Ubuntu

Which is interesting in that you can PASSTHRU whole HDD to the virtual Synology..... without needing VT-D to passthrough a whole controller ala ESXi etc

So this way there is no need to make Xpenology need SAS HBA support..... Xpenology just see's SATA Drives.

Tho, naturally it's SLOW (eg 10mb/s transfers to each drive) without proper KVM virtio drivers

But it looks like someone has managed to get virtio working in an older version...(not totally successful...but a start)

http://xpenology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=991&p=4910&hilit=libvirt#p4910

Would make for a Nice "All in One System" that would give people an option instead of ESXi

Bad news for all of us with a ss4200 or other ICH7/ICH8(-M/-R) based motherboards, I guess??

No I think I will compil a second kernel with built-in pata_legacy driver, so user with "old" hardware can install XPEnology

Unfortunately, when I have tried to include them it break iSCSI support

Currently I'm focused on releasing beta8 (which add sound, bluetooth, wifi, multimedia support).

Then repack a debug/testing build of DSM 5.0-4482 so the community can work and find out why volumes get unmounted.

After that maybe beta9 or v1.1 for 4.3-3827 ^^

I get an Error 500 with beta7:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, admin and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Where can I find a log of this? Is there a possibility to find the mistake?

Hi I just tested this new version with my Backup Server (synoboot non-HBA) and have some issues :

- the mac address has changed but is still not the real mac

- serial number is displayed as "XPEnology1"

Do I need to re-install the beta8.pat file ?

thx Trantor for all your work !

EDIT : with my other server and Synoboot HBA, I have the same behaviour.

WIFI/BT are not working.

Same bug when trying to add manually iwlwifi.ko file :

May 11 21:42:07 server kernel: [ 846.610586] iwlwifi: Unknown symbol pv_irq_ops (err 0)

May 11 21:42:07 server kernel: [ 846.610643] iwlwifi: Unknown symbol ieee80211_channel_to_frequency (err 0)

May 11 21:42:07 server kernel: [ 846.610676] iwlwifi: Unknown symbol ieee80211_hdrlen (err 0)

You can change it in grub.conf

Just tested on a computer at work and it shows the real mac address.

Yes you need to re-install or patch the rc.network file in etc and etc.defaults.

Same bug when trying to add manually iwlwifi.ko file :

May 11 21:42:07 server kernel: [ 846.610586] iwlwifi: Unknown symbol pv_irq_ops (err 0)

May 11 21:42:07 server kernel: [ 846.610676] iwlwifi: Unknown symbol ieee80211_hdrlen (err 0)

You first need to insmod cfg80211 and mac80211 modules.

Wifi modules depend of each others, you maybe need to insmod others module in order to insmod iwlwifi

For bluetooth insmod the bluetooth.ko module.

This is why it's called a beta, It's need some adjustments ^^

  • 2 weeks later...

Is there any chance, that the areca raid card driver will included?

i know that in the Support list, areca pops up, but when i boot with the areca card installed, xpenology calls a shutdown and the System folows it and shut down...

I am testing with a areca arc 1680.

Could you please look for it? I have tried all versions i have found so far.

Another question:

When the driver is fully suported, did i create the raid on the raidcard or did i create the raid in the synology Software (Little confused)

Is there anybody who runs a areca raid Controller with xpenlogy?

Thanks in advanced

Hi,

I am trying to get both "autoupd@te.info" and "@smallupd@te_deb" to perform a manual update to 4.3 - 3827

o Manually Update to 4.3 build 3827 v8:

1. Transfer via ftp "autoupd@te.info" and "@smallupd@te_deb" to /volume1/public

2. Connect/login with putty/telnet and execute these 2 commands:

cp /volume1/public/autoupd@te.info /

cp -a /volume1/public/@smallupd@te_deb/ /volume1/

3. Go to Control Pannel - DSM Update and press the Update Now button

But every time i extract Beta8, i cant get see the "autoupd@te.info" and "@smallupd@te_deb" files.

Any ideas? or am i going about this all the wrong way?

Thanks

N
