Pol17 Posted December 19, 2022 #1 Posted December 19, 2022 A few months ago we bought a HP Proliant DL380P G8 12LFF and decided to install xpenology but the server did not detect the hard drives and did not know what to do, I looked at the forum but I could not solve that did not detect the disks and I returned it. I decided to mount a computer with network hard drives and it works perfectly we have been 3 months and we have a lot of constant data flow with the nas drive and we need to expand and the best way would be a server with many disk slots and minimum 10 Gb / s so we can download to 1 GB, So I would like to take this up, because we do not know exactly what to buy so that it can read the server hard drives or if there is other hardware more competent, is it positive to put 2 processors? We have 2 ssd in cache inside xpenology and the 7 computers are connected by SMB to read and load in ram the files. Quote
Trabalhador Anonimo Posted December 19, 2022 #2 Posted December 19, 2022 Some synology software accept link aggregation. I do not know if it is possible to do so on this box, but you can find if your "model" accept that. If so, you need a switch with the same function. If it is not possible, maybe you can set a second NIC and split traffic. Quote
pocopico Posted December 19, 2022 #3 Posted December 19, 2022 (edited) Hi, did you ever find out what was the reason for not detecting the hard drives ? These systems come with different kind of raid controllers with P400 been the most common. HPSA extension should work but i havent tested that. You also need the disks to be set to JBOD mode and not RAID1/5/10/x As for the CPU, it depends on the platform you decide to use, but i think 3622 is the most stable one and supports 24 CPU threads as per the table found here : 3622 supports fibre channel OOTB for FC disk provisioning and bonding but depends on the type of network interfaces you decide to use. Pol17 Posted December 25, 2022 Author #4 Posted December 25, 2022 (edited) Good excuse the delay, I have not found out why the disks are not detected, they were SAS disks and I did not detect the disks, then I would like to know what I need to get back to work or recommendation of other hardware, thanks. I am between 1 of these 2 Opción 1: https://www.give1life.com/proliant-dl380p-g8-12lff-configurable-servidor/ Opcion 2: https://www.give1life.com/dell-poweredge-r720xd-configurable-servidor-rack/ Edited December 25, 2022 by Pol17 Quote
