Problems with installation DSM7.1.1-42962 on HP Gen8 Server with Esxi 6.7

Hello everyone,

 

   I have a DSM6.2.3 update system working on my HP Gen 8 Server with 16GB and celeron 1610 processor.

   I wanted to migrate do DSM7 so i started to read about the Tiny RedPill loader to give it a try.

   I decided to make a clean installation for testing purposes

   I followed the Tutorial: Install DSM 7.x with TinyCore RedPill (TCRP) Loader on ESXi to install DSM7.1.1-42962.

   

   I detected my new SynologyNAS with Synology assistant;

   Using the browser i choosed the pat file that i downloaded from Synology archive.

   When the instalation process was about 55% it just gives an error saying that the file might be corrupted (please look at the attached prtscrs).

   

   I'm not a specialist in this area, so i have some doubts about the process that i followed:

 

    - i didn't understand well if i need to put the option realmac on the serialgen command as i'm using a virtual machine...

    - do i have to change anything in the user_config.json

 

    In attachment i'm sending some prstscr files and text files:

 

    installation.txt - the process of building on TinyRedPill;

    dmesg_synology.txt - with dmesg output from the Synology console (accessed by <IP>: 7681)

    synology_assistant.png - prtscr of results from Synology Assistant (notice that i have another Synology working already);

    error_1.png and error_2.png - prtscr of the error from synology pat file installation fail

 

    If someone have the same issue or knows how can i handle this, i kindly ask for help.

   Yes, it was stopping at 55%.

   I didn't had time to post here, but meanwhile i finally found a solution to install DSM7 on my ESXI 6.7 Hp Microserver Gen 8!

   I used tinycore-redpill.v0.9.3.0 and the .pat version was DSM_DS3622xs+_42218. Everything went fine!

   I have all the steps of the installation, but as they are in portuguese, i need to translate to english... unfortunately i didn't had much time those days

   But if you have any doubt, don't hesitate to ask and i try to answer (if i have the knowledge!)

@nualexan 55% error is related to the non existence of synoboot. If you use USB on a physical system then you need to set the VID/PID to the ones of your USB Stick. 

 

On VMware we are using SATA boot option and we fake the SATA for SATADOM.

I had a similar error when used TinyCore RedPill or Automated Redpill Loader incorrect way - ide0, virtio or other.

Solution - is to use sata0 for loader and boot from sata0 in Proxmox.

 

As have pocopico said - the problems relates to synoboot.

 

It's great that You have success with ESXi!

 

Otherwise, You can try my fresh Proxmox backups DSM 7.x from
