Orphée Posted November 30, 2022 Share #2 Posted November 30, 2022 It seems there is no mac1 declared. Look the yellow message. You may need to check this value when you build ARPL I can't confirm what happen if you don't set a mac address manually, I always add it to be sure it is OK. The yellow error is gone, i specified a mac address manually. This is what i get now. Still not booting.... Orphée Posted November 30, 2022 Share #4 Posted November 30, 2022 (edited) For info you won't have anything else on the screen, you have to look from another computer on the IP written on this screen : http://192.168.188.158 Edited November 30, 2022 by Orphée

I had it running yesterday on an hp 6300 with no problems. Edited November 30, 2022 by donkeyroller
Orphée Posted November 30, 2022 Share #6 Posted November 30, 2022 (edited) These screen look fine, without more logs w won't be able to help you. Is there a serial port on the computer? I suggest you wait 10 minutes at least to check if it is not a long boot issue. Edit : you may want to enable direct boot to true, just as a test Edited November 30, 2022 by Orphée

So I copied the mac address from the bios and now I have no more errors apart from the whole "early console in decompress_kernel" story I never had this story on that other PC (hp 6300). you think about slow boot? it's been running for a few minutes now I'll wait a bit then. This screen is showing right now.

I changed directboot to true Edited November 30, 2022 by donkeyroller

donkeyroller Posted November 30, 2022 Author Share #10 Posted November 30, 2022 Maybe something can be deduced from my bios settings... I really don't know where to look anymore. Maybe the USB stick is screwed up??
donkeyroller Posted November 30, 2022 Author Share #11 Posted November 30, 2022 Yeah is has something to do with this line...(first picture)(on the z400 workstation) I've tried everything and it's never going to work. Ordered 2 8tb disks (That way I have more space but with a smaller amount of disks.) and I installed everything on an hp 6300 where the "efi" error does not appear. within 5 minutes everything worked. The second picture is from the hp6300 and it looks as it should be (without the "early console in decompress kernel" error.
rojoone2 Posted November 30, 2022 Share #12 Posted November 30, 2022 Are you able to set your SATA Emulation to AHCI only? I have a Z400 at work that I can test with later today. I can let you know what I find if you haven't solved the problem by then.

rojoone2 Posted November 30, 2022 Share #14 Posted November 30, 2022 So weird thing happened. I built the loader using ARPL and waited for the system to reboot... it didn't reboot after 10 minutes, so I forced shutdown and then rebooted. After the reboot I got an IP with Synology Assistant and was able install DSM 7. Give a hard reboot a try.
