XPEnology Configuration Tool & Bootloader DSM 6.0.2-8451

Recommended Posts

I've tried the 2.2 loader. I get the PID VID not matching error on both of the USB sticks I have tried using.

I have two of the HP Proliant ML10 v2 microservers. I know the B120i raid disc controller wont be supported in Raid mode, but since it is otherwise the builtin Intel SATA controller with specialised HP Raid firmware on top, I am hoping that it will be supported in a simple AHCI mode.

I have successfully got Diskstation 6.0 working under the Jun Loader through esxi . However that was with my discs in RAID on the B120i through esxi.

I want to go baremetal , which means AHCI. And I am hoping that I can offer assistance with testing of v2.3 for my machine.

The NIC works fine with the v2.2 loader, as I can SSH to it without a problem.

Hardware

HP Proliant Microserver ML10 v2 ( ML10v2 for search ).

Hi there

I've an issue trying to install baremetal on a HP Compaq dc5800 Microtower.

I did these steps:

- Download Baremetal/Other | XPEnology-DSM-6.0.2-8451.5-quicknick-boot-v2.2.img.zip | md5sum e9a5ba1b11e8eec19f9fb8368df3ded7

- Extract zip file on your computer

- Use Win32DiskImage/Rufus/unetbootin/etc. to get XPEnology-DSM-6.0.2-8451.5-quicknick-boot-v2.2.img on USB media

- Power On HW w/USB media attached

Now I have only a blinking cursor on screen. No menu to choose Quick setup or whatever.

Xpenology DSM 5.2-5565 Update 2 is currently running properly on this computer.

I know the usb dongle works properly as I could flash it back to XPEnoboot_DS3615xs_5.2-5967.1 and get my nas booting fine again.

Do you have any idea of what happens?

Thanks for your help!

your boot order is not set properbly, blinking cursor means no system/boot drive.

2 possibility:

- Your usb drive is incorrectly formatted

- Your boot order (boot from USB) is incorrect

I still have an issue in the XPEnology Configuration Tool.

I could connect through ssh, but when I tap 1 to go to Quick setup I have this message: XPEnology Configuration Tool cannot continue. No boot disk detected.

What does it mean? Do I need a second usb stick to install DSM?

Thanks for your help!

Here is what I can see when I list the drives:

Disk /dev/sda: 3001GB
Disk /dev/sdb: 3001GB
Disk /dev/sdc: 3001GB
Disk /dev/sdd: 2000GB
Disk /dev/sdu: 4052MB

XPEnology can see 5 drives connected to this system.

No boot disk was detected.

/dev/sdu is my usb stick that I flashed with XPEnology-DSM-6.0.2-8451.5-quicknick-boot-v2.2. I want to use it as my boot disk. Is it possible?

I'm interested in the answer to this also. I ran into a similar issue. Perhaps this is something to do with sataportmap"?

Did you update the Configuration tool first? I found I got this error if I did that. Also did you set the VID/PID of your USB stick?

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I updated the configuration tool. But I already had the issue before doing that.

I don't know how can I set the VID/PID. If I try from the tool I've the same error message (XPEnology Configuration Tool cannot continue. No boot disk detected.).

On the stick there is no grub.cfg file.

I'm on ESXi 6.0, HP microserver gen7.

I used the menu to upgrade to 2.3, reboot and changed the boot drive from SCSI to IDE. Then I added a new SCSI 1GB virtual drive to test but web installer tells me that no drive is found. What should I do to get drives recognized?

Thanks.

I had the same issue "No boot disk detected" for me the problem was that i had a disk attached with a NTFS partition on it. When i removed the NTFS partitions from that disk it started to work

Thanks for your reply.

There is only one fat32 partition created by unetbootin containing:

- menu.c32

- syslinux.cfg

- ubinit

- ubnkernel

Guys, can anyone confirm if version 2.2 works with SATA controller C236? Considering to buy ASrock C236WSI MOBO with dual gigabit, 8x SATA3 and slot for intel xeon....

Wait for 2.3, lot of drivers are missing on 2.2

As general message, most people post issues which wait and have been already confirmed as fix in 2.3.

So my suggestion: let's wait fur that release to avoid allot trial and error with frustration

Oh ok, my HDD are already on DSM. So I guess it's EXT4. And it runs fine with DSM 5.2.

I think I'll wait a next version and keep my nas safe  Thanks again for your help!

Hi

I'm having issues getting my System upgraded from DSM 5.2 to 6

Hardware: HP Microserver G7 N54L - AMD Turion™ II Neo N54L (2.2GHz)

Install Type: Baremetal AMD (& Baremetal & Forced Install)

NIC Model: NC107i which is Broadcom BCM5723 chipset (on the Supported List)

Storage: Embedded AMD SATA (Works on XPENOLOGY DSM5.2)

Issue: Network

I have concluded that my network card is unrecognized, I do not have a serial port connection but I do not get any DHCP lease and have used IP Scanner to no avail.

Yet the chipset is on the supported list. Does anyone else have this issue?

I've tried find.synology.com with no luck, and I have tried the usb boot stick I have written on a different machine and that does work.

Any tips would be greatfully appreciated.

Thanks

Brynn Harrison

Hi!

I don´t know if it´s the same problem i had with Jun´s release but i have the same setup and i needed to do a clean install, NOT upgrade/migrate or something like that...

It doesn´t delete your data, only your config like users, rights and apps etc...

Hope this will help you.

Hi Guys,

I have successfully installed the DSM 6.0.2-8451 into ESXi 5.5 through ovf template provided in the 1st page and run smoothly.

I am using 2 (two) VMXNET3 adapter. Both adapter works normally with default MTU 1500.

Everytime when I tried to set one of the adapter MTU to 9000, the VM crashed and rebooted.

I have tried setting it using web interface or using ssh (ifconfig eth0 mtu 9000 up) but encountered the same problem.

It seems that vmxnet3 adapter cannot accept MTU 9000 or something.

Is anyone ever having the same issue?

Thanks.

Andy

This is a know problem with many drivers.

############## Know Issues #####################

- When running on a slow single core machine, there is a race condition that causes the patcher to load too late. The most obvious sign is that console is not working properly.

- Some ethernet drivers crash when set MTU above about 4096 (Jumbo frame).
