Automated RedPill Loader (ARPL)

I successfully upgraded my ProxMox installation to Beta2.  I simply replaced the existing boot drive with the beta2 image.  I booted it up.  Re-configured using the same parameters as before.  I then rebooted the whole VM and it booted right into DSM (i.e. no migration or repair needed).

Everything worked flawlessly first time around.

Thank you

Hi all,

I have the following setup, motherboard has two onboard controllers

regular sata 6

SAS 3  4

Then I have two SAS3 controller, each has 8 ports

so 8,8

here is what my SataPortMap  will be -----  6488

here is what my DiskIdxMap    will be -----  050800

All ports will have a drive, is this correct?

Thanks

Hey, just wanted to say thank you @fbelavenuto. I upgraded / migrated my HP Microserver Gen8 from DSM 6.2 ds3615 / Jun 1.03b to ds3622xs+ DSM 7.1 / ARPL Beta-0.1 with no problems at all.  The only manual intervention in the Loader configuration was to add a 2nd Mac address in the config file and change netif_num to "2".  Booted up, migrated with DSM_DS3622xs+_42661.pat (with Update 1 included), and had to repair a couple of packages. Magic!

i have a proplem only, how can i set disk in the 4 slots of ds918+?

i have a virtio scsi single, with 2 qemu scsi disks in proxmox VM but DSM call them disk 13 and 14, i want disk 1 and 2 or something in that 4 slots only

Nuovo Immagine bitmap.jpg

solved with: i440fx in proxmox and disks to VM with -sata option and not -scsi.

i have 2 disks in slot 2 and 3 now

Hi, it's not bug. All supported models have the e1000e module natively. The loader didn't find any other modules needed in your case.
The e1000e module exists for any future model that does not have it. ACPId is not installed automatically, when I confirm that it works in any situation I will put it to be installed automatically.

Ah, I forget to answer your second question, sorry. You can update up to 42661 update5 which is the latest at this time. No need to turn off internet access.

so thank you for your contributions I am so happy and amazed and grateful for this but one thing is really really bothering me..

I cannot find an explanation for why you say you should use an SSD for the Loader?

I have tons of extra ssds laying around, but what is the purpose or how does the SSD benefit the loader speed or what is it that it benefits?

Because with June's loader I don't recall it made a difference whether you use a slow drive or fast

Thanks for bringing that to out attention. We will get right on it, making loaders harder to work and whatever :)

Why u in their dms, you got a legit unit?

We have a lot of Synology RS version in my company, with warranty extension. I just tried to use it to get the kernel sources lol, for the community :)

Hello, I report that the beta version does not work with my hardware, instead the alpha version v0.5-alpha1 does work correctly (removing some errors that I had previously reported)
  the version i try rs4021xs+
If you need to carry out any additional tests, tell me fbelavenuto, thank you very much for the work

.I proceed in the same way, I format a new USB, I install the image, I carry out the configuration process, everything seems correct, I restart to be able to install the dsm, on the screen everything appears correct, (search ip etc, booting etc)
but the windows explorer gives it the ip, but it does nothing, i search with an ip scanner program, but that ip that the loader gives me is not there, as if it did not give the ip or that the drivers of the network cards did not they were fine...

What is your network card model?

cannot find an explanation for why you say you should use an SSD for the Loader?

Some users have experienced an excessively long time to boot. I recommended using SSD for this reason. If the boot is fast via USB, no SSD is needed.
I'll modify the README to make this clearer.

Thanks.

I have the same issue with an Intel X540-T2   10gb nic, it used to work until beta came out.

Now if it's installed neither beta works, when I remove it and use the onboard 1gb card the beta loads and works ok

with the 10gb after it boots it shows "ERROR" in red next to IP

so my 540's cause some weird things happen to both my test machines currently. I've been trying to take it easy when moving data though. Using only one cord between the two. I've been getting roughly for 400-500 sustained with dips to lowest of 175 then back up.

But this isn't the problem.... and I'm sorry I can't put my specific finger on what the exact problem is. But I do know recently after using the x540s I've had to reinstall DSM because of freezing and other weird stuff. If I take it easy with them I can get them to work solid 25% of the time. The other 75% I assumed was because they weren't compatible or didn't have drivers yet, or because I only named one IP address in my config.  I just got a couple of quantia Marvel aqc107 10g cards today so I'm going to be messing with them on v1 or v1 beta or whatever it's called the newest one.

II'm actually kind of stoked because tonight I think I'm going to build that 1622 NVR with some easy Parts real fast and the cameras are already installed. What interests me is using my 918 to maybe manage the NVR via CMS .  Before I only had two 918s so I had to connect them via CMS just to get four cameras. Now they'll be way more cameras to test
