Schmill Posted October 1, 2022 Share #1 Posted October 1, 2022 Hi all, I am running the N54L baremetal, currently on DSM 6.1.7-15284 (as a DS3615xs) using Juns loader 1.02b I didn't upgrade for ages because originally it seemed that there was an issue that you couldn't use the onboard NIC, needed to use an additional intel one (or something?) It seems maybe that isn't the case now? What can / should I now upgrade to and what do I need to do? I see there is a new Jun loader, but then there is talk of "redpill" as well? There is lots of information around, but I am having trouble sorting what is relevant for me to upgrade from "where I am" to a reasonably recent form? I'm happy dealing with most things, but I just want to make sure I get all the correct parts of Xpenology together that will work with this hardware Any pointers gratefully received! Thanks! Polanskiman Posted October 10, 2022 Share #3 Posted October 10, 2022 There are presently 2 mainstream loaders available: https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/53817-tinycore-redpill-loader-tcrp/ (TCRP) and https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/63486-automated-redpill-loader-arpl/ (ARPL) I believe both should be able to handle the upgrade to 7.1 at least. Before that I suggest reading this: https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/61634-dsm-7x-loaders-and-platforms/ and this: https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/62221-tutorial-installmigrate-to-dsm-7x-with-tinycore-redpill-tcrp-loader/ TCRP is testing and implementing a new functionality called 'withfriend' (TCRP Friend) which is creating problems with N54L. Read this: https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/62871-tinycore-redpill-loader-tcrp-development-release-09/?do=findComment&comment=347676 If you don't use it you should be fine. I don't have a N54L so can't comment much on the specific so I'll let other chime in.
