@CtrlAltDel sorry but if i'm using gen8boot.img i think i don't need do that... or i'm wrong? the gen8boot.img from what i read and understand already have a "good" romdisk... or i'm wrong?

What i did now:

1 - download gen8boot.img

2 - Mount the img file, and change vid and pid.

3 - Download the excel file to get a serial number and a mac (don't know the correct procedure... i just copy the values from the file... and paste it to the grub file, the mac should be the mac from my nic?)

4 - Burn the img

5 - Boot

6 - Try to install the .pat, get the error 13 again.

So maybe my problem is in step 3... what mac should i put in the grub.cfg my nic mac or the mac that excel file gives based on the generated serial?

If the mac in the grub should be the same from the excel is needed some thing to change my nic mac?

PS: What is OP ?

Hi all!

Anybody can help me with this?

Scenario:

ESXi 6 on Gen8

DSM6 image from ESXi from first post

Ok, all is running properly, but when I add another net card, the system crash. BUT the first time when I added the net card all work properly, only get a kernel panic after change the IP of the second net card. I tried deleting and generating the ifcfg-eth* files of the path /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ and many other test, but the system only work again when I delete de second net card.

Here ir the output from the terminal, all the help are welcome and thank's all:

I got one question. I have MB with 4 SATA ports. Currently I'm using ports 3 and 4 as eSATA (edited synoinfo.conf). There's always drive connected to port 3 (but usually turned off) and port 4 is sometimes occupied and sometimes not. How should I edit SataPortMap?

PS: What is OP ?

OP means Opening Post > http://www.xpenology.com/forum/viewtopi ... 216#p72622

Yes the gen8boot.img has Jun's patched romdisk.

Not sure if you actually mean mounted the img or not? You should be using the img to create a bootable USB device. I assume that's what you're doing as you have a vid and pid.

Yes use the excel file to get the serial number for the matching MAC click on the tab at the bottom of the page. The MAC in the grub should be the one from excel and it must pair with the serial number. You don't need to do anything with you NIC just ignore the real MAC.

After you download the pat file check the checksum with the value given by Synology to make sure you have an identical copy.

It wont work until you complete all the steps. You need to get the Serial # and MAC etc. correct to complete the installation/migration.

@CtrlAltDel I have done all these steps... can't do the installation :/

I'm not sure what the problem is so I can't suggest any alternative solution. I have tried to explain what worked for me the best I can. Beyond that I can't really help sorry.

Now after i reboot and try again i get the message that i must reinstall the dsm... but i still get the 13 error... maybe is this the installation loop from old posts?

Jun mentions that in the OP.

Many people reported that DSM ask you to reinstall forever.

It turn out that lack of a serial port caused the failure. That is really a surprise  .

Anyway, I upload a new ramdisk to workaround the issue.

You should replace the image/DS3615xs/ramdisk.lzma in the boot partiton with this new one.

It seems like you need Jun's updated romdisk.

I already try that ... with the last link ... with the file synoboot.zip i think is that jun refer's... what you understand from the post?

Even with the ramdisk from that synoboot.zip keeps in loop.

For know i have everything up and running using esxi... and the drives with rdm... so is kind of easy keep trying and keep the data "secure"

The method you have been trying is for non-uefi intel baremetal builds not VM's.

I think error 13 means your vid/pid does not match your usb stick.

for peoples have a hard time to edit grub.cfg, they can at least enjoy the VM build.

How did you managed to add rdm to the dsm6 vm ? I get errors every single time; can you export and upload an ovf please ?

Next problem, finally WOL working. But my backup server should shutdown after inactive use. Sometimes it seems to work. I also added a shutdown at 06:00 hour. But after every start, the date is resetted to somewhere in 2015 so the server won't shutdown. Is there a way to sync the date/time on start? With a script or something.

I'm working with two methods... the esxi always working...

How are you adding them rdm? Assuming that the error is related with space....

If you are doing it via web ui and the rdm disk is bigger than your datastore i can't do it because a bug, you have two options:

- use the windows vsphere client

- Update the web host client (https://labs.vmware.com/flings/esxi-emb ... ost-client)

I use the second method because if you use the first, then i can't edit again the vm using the web ui.

Notice however that the updateve version is a from labs... so not so stable like the one from esxi 6u2

I use the second method because if you use the first, then i can't edit again the vm using the web ui.

Notice however that the updateve version is a from labs... so not so stable like the one from esxi 6u2

I tried both methods, using the latest webui and the windows vsphere. Dsm 6 is installed and working, just can't add my rdm's.

Maybe I did a mistake when I created the vm, that's why I ask for an ovf upload if possible.

How did you managed to add rdm to the dsm6 vm ? I get errors every single time; can you export and upload an ovf please ?

How are you adding them rdm? Assuming that the error is related with space....

If you are doing it via web ui and the rdm disk is bigger than your datastore i can't do it because a bug, you have two options:

- use the windows vsphere client

- Update the web host client (https://labs.vmware.com/flings/esxi-emb ... ost-client)

If everyone interested i have extracted DSDT from Synology original bios that comes from DSM_DS3615xs_8451.pat file

if everyone would like to download https://www.dropbox.com/s/whygc9ewfl0xkwm/test.aml?dl=0

You have to use MACIASL on mac to read and edit, can try to add to my bios to see what happens

@Aigor, have you added your bios and did you see anything different in the logs? Don't have a MAC, so I haven't been able to test this.
