TWiST Posted April 11, 2017 Share #2527 Posted April 11, 2017 Any news on stable 6.1 Jun? Many thanks! You can check my post from March 12th 2017 where I commented during and after my upgrade and I have been having zero issues since. I run Plex, docker containers with several programs, and have 7 x 3TB drives in 1 array and another 3 x drives 2TB drives in a separate array. So I would say Alpha is running just fine. I have not followed up much since I read that the source code was released. If it really was released, then I would imagine there are people working on something shinier as we speak. Jun actually uploaded an alpha2 yesterday (10/04/2017) with ds3617xs and ds916+ updated image and patch. You can check his mega link. Not sure though what the changes are since he didn't make any comment or post anything here.
Polanskiman Posted April 11, 2017 Share #2529 Posted April 11, 2017 @jun I tested both D3617xs and DS916+ with loader v1.02a2. There seems to be an issue with the DS916+. This was done under VirtualBox. Below the logs: GNU GRUB version 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.9 DS916+ 6.1 Baremetal with Jun's Mod v1.02-alpha DS916+ 6.1 Baremetal with Jun's Mod v1.02-alpha Reinstall DS916xs 6.1 VMWare/ESXI with Jun's Mod v1.02-alpha Use the ^ and v keys to select which entry is highlighted. ordimans Posted April 11, 2017 Share #2531 Posted April 11, 2017 Hello, I've been running xpeno baremetal for a few years now. Yesterday I went to update from the last nanoboot to Jun's loader (Thanks for the work Jun!). I went through the procedure in the tutorial (Thanks Polanskiman!). Boot is fine, but the box does not appear on the net. Mobo is an older Geforce with an onboard Nvidia NIC (forcedeth). Is the nvidia NIC driver included in the drivers with Jun's loader? Is anyone else using Jun's loader and an Nvidia Nic? If you are on v1.01, replace the extra.lzma with this one https://mega.nz/#!KUxmhY7R!FYOSzesxdUjPlynO4YDvSu4LKfFkFk9eBvkUD9AGS04. I included the forcedeth module. Let me know if it works. I repeat. This is only for v1.01 NOT v.1.02a. Can you explain how do you make this ? I would like to add my own driver to have a full compatible loader with Proliant .

Dark Zydor Posted April 11, 2017 Share #2535 Posted April 11, 2017 I had the same problem (I guess) : each time my nas started, there was an error message "System has detected that one of your storage has crashed...". Yet, everything was working perfectly. This message disappeared with update 2 of DSM 6.1. Hope this will help. Here is the message :

For desktop/mobile processors, 4th Gen Core processor or later is required to provide necessary instruction features. for example, i7-4700mq works, but e3-1230v2 complains about undefined instructions. Ok then I guess someone with the required hardware should test it. By the way, what did you add/fix on v1.02a2? I enabled mcu emulation for ds916p/ds3617 to deal with "time bomb" problem, plus as you notice, standalone patcher is provided for interested guys, though I think peoples want to recompile the loader should be able to extract it from the img. These models (in fact, I believe all new models) expect some kind of challenge/response through serial port with on board mcu. I solve this by emulate a serial port to response this kind messages in kernel.
Salah Posted April 12, 2017 Share #2537 Posted April 12, 2017 Tried to test Latest Alpha(17xs a2) on the Dell R710.( Broadcom NetXtreme® II 5709c ) Are the Braodcom Nics causing and issue? The dell 790s I noticed that when I used SYBA 2 Port Ethernet PCIe x 1 Card, Realtek RTL8111 chip they did not play well with Network. When I used onboard Intel all seemed fine on install. But if I tried a vdsm heatbeat between them they did not like it ata all.

But if I tried a vdsm heatbeat between them they did not like it ata all. Both modules/drivers for Broadcom NetXtreme® II 5709c and Realtek RTL8111 are included in the extra ramdisk of both loaders v1.02a and v1.02a2. :: Loading module qlcnic ... [ OK ] :: Loading module r8169 ... [ OK ] Try re-downloading the loader and doing a fresh install. For some reason the first download I did of v1.02a2 seemed to be missing some modules. Not sure if it was me who messed up, the download who got corrupted or that Jun actually updated the loader in the meantime but I re-downloaded and now those 2 among others more are showing. If that's possible and if it still doesn't work try checking the logs through consol and a serial cable.

Kitaro Posted April 12, 2017 Share #2541 Posted April 12, 2017 What problems at you with 3615? 3615 it is built on Bromolow. RC18015xs + Intel Xeon E3-1230 v2 Bromolow RS18016xs + Intel Xeon E3-1230 v2 Bromolow RS3617xs Intel Xeon E3-1230 v2 Bromolow What can work not so and for what some else instructions from DS916 are necessary? I it still ask that and most to understand since I don't see a basic difference. In 3617 can it is urgent only for those who really have these new processors what I strongly doubt that it essentially and such generally is a lot of. I still believe that most of the people want to use 3617 just because it's the newest and the best without any other reason.

Forgive and what, there is a difference in the OS Windows 7 started, let us assume, on i3 or i7? It seems to me, in this situation DSM - it and in Africa DSM don't? I know it. I don't understand another why someone tries to start ds916p on E3-1230 v2. Unless only for debugging of the loader, as you write. Hey Jun, Thanks for the updates. Would the DS916 build work on, say, a G4560 too? Or HW accel requires not just an integrated GPU, but AVX 2.0 too? Also... The DS916+ only has 4 disks. But most of us use 6 or more disks. Will that still work? I see that there's a 5-bay expansion for that model, the DX513. Will the extra disks be detected as an expansion case or something? Also I dropped your an e-mail a while back!
Nebroth Posted April 12, 2017 Share #2547 Posted April 12, 2017 The v1.02a2 Loader still has the same error when a volume with SHR is created. On every boot! You need to describe your problem a bit better. I do not see any problems with SHR volumes, at least it works for me. Hey! My Mainboard is an Asrock J3455M (same problem on VMware/Virtualbox) and DSM boots fine. But after i edited the synoinfo.conf file, so i'd be able to create a SHR Volume, DSM always gives me the error on restart that "Dark Zydor" posted. Error shows all drives connected. Jason69 Posted April 12, 2017 Share #2550 Posted April 12, 2017 I've been running Jun 1.02 with DSM 6.1 on J1900 with with 12 SATA ports, tested till 6 disk, and currently running 4x 4TB in " secondary (home) production". Motherboard (J1900 with 12 SATA Ports) + OEM Fractal Design 304 case = US$200+$30(shipping) /= - appears to be using port multiplier. - 2 x GE ports. (dunno what chips but 1.02 works fine). SFX PSU = approx US$70 2GB RAM DDR3 "sodimm?" = free (dig it up from my old parts drawer). I'm planning to upgrade my primary NAS to 6.x as well, so the question is, if Jun 1.02 alpha is working fine, should I upgrade to 1.02a ?
