I don't talk about VM. I talked from Xpenology. Your virtual NAS needs 2 NIC. Do you have assign 2 NICs to each NAS?

Take a look to the original doc. That shows in details how it's working

https://www.synology.com/en-global/know ... nology_NAS

Hi,

Thx for the response !

In my case, I have an ESXi server build with 2 Nics total.

Both VM's have 1 Nic for normal use, and second nic is added to be used with HA Cluster..

You mean i need a total of 4 Nics, ( 2 nics seperate for each VM ?)

What I read on older topics, is that i only need to ad a serial port..

This is what people say on multiple topics..

for example see this one : viewtopic.php?f=2&t=31616&p=96241&hilit=cluster#p96241

Search example : search.php?keywords=cluster

I'm a little confused, how to fix this problem..

thx for you help !

How to say it simple....mmmhhh

Each vm NAS need in total 2 NIC. This can be virtual and match always to the same physical NIC. Please read the Synology document for HA. If you don't see a second NIC in your Synology system network setup, HA will not work.

Hi yes,

I understand and I had read the manual..

I do have 2 nics fully working on both VM's..

But still its not working correctly, and the setup procedure of creating a cluster is failing..

Do I maybay need to do something with a serial port also ?

Just adding Thanks

Got 6.0.2 it to install, baremetal|n54l

Reset the root password using "synouser --setpw root [PASSWORD]"

and can now log in with WinSCP and edit the file "/etc.defaults/synoinfo. conf" to enable "support_syno_hybrid_raid ="yes" and thus my n54l is upgraded and working like a beast again!!

Looks good. I only saw that you use different MTU size on LAN 2. If its not working after changing MTU, I have no clue why. It can be, that Syno saw the different network card at the same network because you use same vSwitch.

Hi,

Yes about the MTU, it changed automaticully when trying to make the cluster..

It does do something with the other NIC of the other VM..

Going to check if I can find anymore info on the web.. :???::roll::roll:

Hi,

Yes about the MTU, it changed automaticully when trying to make the cluster..

It does do something with the other NIC of the other VM..

Going to check if I can find anymore info on the web.. :???::roll::roll:

One more suggestion, im not sure where i saw it but one or both "machines" require static address on nic designated to HA cluster.

Looks like a few modules are still acting up(cnic, megaraid?)

Some things are not clear.

1) Logs show your IP is 169.x.x.x. That's an internal MAC address. How are you able to access the box on your network and start the install?

2) Please use your REAL NIC MAC address. No need to actually populate all 4 NIC MAC addresses. MAC1 is enough. (Note: using Synology's MAC addresses (00:11:32:xx:xx) in order to use QC and abuse Synology is a violation of Synology's Services).

3) I am seing in the consol log the following: vid=0xABCD pid=0x1234 which do not seem to be a valid VID/PID. Make sure your VID/PID are correct then try again.

Please send logs when all above is corrected.

Hi,

Yes I know, thanks for your message.

Both machines have a static IP on their network cards..

I still can't get it to work..

Hope somebody else knows how..

It gets the IP from dhcp a bit late, but it does get one.

ABCD/1234 is the parent of this usb stick.

I just used the serial and nic that was in grub.cfg for testing.

new logs: differing usb that was running 1.01 fine, real nic addy, differing serial, injected bnx.(3617 102a2) no changes to grub but what is required

md issue?

I'm running 6.0.2 with update 11 on ESXi and after a few hours I notice the following issues (it works immidiately after the install/upgrade):

[*]The General tab in the control panel goes blank

[*]The Resource Manager doesn't work and says "Connection failed"

[*]SNMP reporting stops working

I have set a valid (new) serial number as that was required in order to get PhotoStation to convert videos. Any idea on how to solve the other two remaining issues?

For now I can't find any helpful information in the logs.

Edit: I wonder if this is a bug in SNMP. Once activated it reports for just a few minutes and then stops. After that Resource Manager and the General info can't be launched. Disabling SNMP doesn't resolve it.

I get this error too in 6.1 if I use more cores than the original NAS have.

How many cores do you have configured? I'm using 2 which should be similar to the original if I'm not mistaken. I'm using 8 GB of RAM instead of the default 4. After some more testing it looks almost random if the page shows up or not. I'm totally confused.

I think there's a serious problem with v1.02a.

During a RAID 5 initial build, data is getting randomly written over segments of the md0 and md1 arrays rendering the Synology unusable. This is using ESXi 6.5 as a backend with a PCI passthrough of an LSI 9211-8i card. It happens when the RAID 5 rebuild gets to about 25%.

This has happened on multiple ESXi hosts in various configurations, storage controllers, drive sizes and drives. It looks like one of the drivers injected may have a massive kernel memory corruption bug.

Here's the dmesg from the VM.

https://pastebin.com/raw/pLtNvVCb

Confirmed this only happens on the 3617xs image. I reverted to a 3615xs Image and it doesn't have this same issue.

I am running the DS3617xs loader and have not had issues as of yet. I have a bare metal install. Very little data written to it at this time though as it's a learning setup for me while I build my server. I'm about to put together my proper build and dumnp a lot more on it though.

I have not had any issues building a raid 5 array though so far.

WARNING

I was able to install 6.1.1 with v1.02a2 on VBOX. This was a fresh install with 6.1.1.

Nc15ktN.jpg

I also tried doing an upgrade to 6.1.1 from 6.1 but that didn't seem to work so well. I tried several times. I wasn't able to access the GUI and there was no network activity. I did notice some unusual logs though. Those Hunk # signify that the patch needs to be updated for 6.1.1:

patching file etc/rc
Hunk #1 succeeded at 169 (offset 6 lines).
patching file etc/synoinfo.conf
Hunk #1 succeeded at 280 (offset 4 lines).
patching file linuxrc.syno
Hunk #1 succeeded at 38 (offset 1 line).
Hunk #2 succeeded at 117 with fuzz 2 (offset 1 line).
Hunk #3 succeeded at 397 (offset 13 lines).

or

[ 151.364970] md1: Failed to send sync event: (sync type: resync, finish: 0, interrupt: 0)

A hard reset did not solve the issue obviously.

The advice to everyone is to NOT update to 6.1.1. Even doing a fresh install with 6.1.1 is not advisable. This needs to be addressed by Jun first.
