glkshankar Posted August 29, 2016 #1 Posted August 29, 2016 Suggestions for performance tuning my XPenology Hi all recently I have built XP enology 5.2 5967 on my old PC with below specs and also enabled SSD read write cache on the volume but unable to get more than 120MB/s while doing Cloud Client backup () and ~50 - 60 MB while doing native copy from Mac. Any tricks for increasing performance. Motherboard: Gigabyte H87M D3H, Processor: Intel Core i5, Memory: 32GB DDR3 NonECC data controller: onboard NIC card :1Gb Broadcom 5704 quad port (2 Links with bond : Adaptive load balancing) because both links connected to linksys router Capacity Storage: 3TB Seagate SATA drives X 2 Performance: Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB X 2 Boot: SANDISK 16GB USB --Shankar
andale Posted August 31, 2016 #2 Posted August 31, 2016 First: transfer rates of ~120MB/s over 1Gb ethernet are pretty normal and the maximum for standard ethernet. Load balancing has to be supported by your router. Even if it does support that your client systems also have to be connected with 2x 1Gb and must support that. Regarding your MAC transfer rates: check your network settings both in DSM (Jumbo Frames, MTU size) and on your MAC.
martysport Posted August 31, 2016 #3 Posted August 31, 2016 I get about 110 up and 120 down from my PC (SMB) 120 is pretty good TBH BTW, why the extreme overkill on the memory and boot disk? I have 4GB in mine, never seen the usage go over 15-20%
