RedPill TinyCore Loader Installation Guide for DSM 7.1 BareMetal

Hi all,

I have some questions about building the bootloader for DS1621+ on Proxmox. So booting from sata0.

  1. do you build the bootloader with HD or HD's attached to TC?
  2. In TC virtio drivers are used but they are not added to the bootloader image so that after starting the VM as DS1621+ there is no network interface. I thought this was supposed to go automatically
  3. If I solve the virtio driver problem I still cannot install the pat file (error @ 56% file invalid or corrupt) what can be the problem ?

Alright, I am missing something and have no idea where.

Here is the list of commands I am running on tc and then rebooting.

I have attempted using the following builds with their relevant commands: [DS918+], [DS3622xs+], [DS920+]. I have tried with the automated "./my.sh[insert platform here].

Here is my last attempt before I have lost my mind. I have found it in my DHCP pool once or twice and it was responding to pings but could not find it with find.synology.com or with synology assistant.

1.) mkdir /mnt/sda3/auxfiles;

2.) sudo ln -s /mnt/sda3/auxfiles /home/tc/custom-module;

3.)./rploader.sh update now

4.) ./rploader.sh fullupgrade now

5.) ./rploader.sh serialgen DS3615xs

6.) ./rploader.sh identifyusb now

7.)./rploader.sh satamap now

8.) ./rploader.sh build bromolow-7.0.1-42218

9.)./rploader.sh ext broadwellnk-7.0.1-42218 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/r8152/rpext-index.json

10.)./rploader.sh clean now

11.)./rploader.sh build bromolow-7.1.0-42661

12.)./rploader.sh clean now; rm -rf /mnt/sdb3/auxfiles; rm -rf /home/tc/custom-module; ./rploader.sh backup now;

13.)sudo reboot

Am I missing something?

I have tired with my onboard Dragon RTL8125BG after running this command (tc@box:~$ ./rploader.sh ext broadwellnk-7.0.1-42218 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/r8125/rpext-index.json)

I have attempted with a USB adapter and ran this command (tc@box:~$ ./rploader.sh ext broadwellnk-7.0.1-42218 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/r8152/rpext-index.json)

I don't know what I am missing here.

Can your main NIC depend only on USB type NIC? Is the built-in NIC r8125 okay for independent use?

Intermittent disappearance of nic means that ext is unstable.

The R8169 NIC with 1GB speed is the most common and acceptable.

Currently, USB type NIC does not work with ext of popopico yet.

After successful installation of DSM with the built-in NIC, the ext of this bb-qq

It is best to install it separately through .

https://github.com/bb-qq/r8152

For now, try using the another built-in NIC.

I am having problem doing the 8-2 step. Theres no redpill in grub menu. Only  tinycore. Also theres no available 7.1 only 7.0.1. Im installing this on hp proliant ml110 gen 7 raid 0

I would like to help, but You did not share your specific installation environment. First, you need to know the Synology platform you tried to install (ex ds3622xs+, ds918+, etc.) and the CPU type or generation of your HP PC.
Finally, I also need to know if there are any external controllers added in addition to the built-in SATA controller.

Hello. I have an HP Microserver G7 N40L with the built in nic card and an additional realtek nic card..

I have followed all the steps to install the 7.1 version of DSM (step by step or using the m.sh script).

I experience always the same problem when I start the server, the latter cannot get an ip address.

Is there something I'm missing ?

I tried all the platform. there and also all builds broad, apollolake etc. of 7.0.1

It is a

HP proliant ML110 G7 Server with the following specs:

Intel Xeon E31220

HP Smart Array 212 Controller which houses 3x SAS Drive 600GB each with Raid 0 = 1.8TB Storage setup on HP Smart Array Menu
In built SATA has only DVD ROM attached

The E3-1220 is the 2nd generation of Intel Sandy Bridge.
The DS918+ supports only Intel 4th Generation Haswell and later CPUs.

I think it's important that the Ext on the SAS controller works well
First of all, instead of DVD-ROM, SSD is installed separately on the internal Sata

Why don't you make the DSM installation successful first?
DS3622xs+ seems to work enough.
I think it would be good to monitor and stabilize the SAS controller added within the successful DSM.

And I think this is the only ext for the SaS controller for HP
Try adding this first just before TCRP build.

If it doesn't work, you may need to make a separate request to add it to the pocopico's rp-ext repo.

./rploader.sh ext broadwellnk-7.0.1-42218 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/hpsa/rpext-index.json

Just sharing.

I have N40L too, successfully upgraded from 7.0.1 to 7.1 using Peter Suh instruction.

I don't install any other nic, using the built-in nic only.

No problem getting IP.

It's bare metal, right?

If you fail to successfully perform the update and fullupgrade action, you will have to stay with the old version of 0.4.6.
This old version continues to have bugs and may not be fully supported.

If the update action fails, the fullupgrade action is treated as a non-existent action.

Try recording the 0.4.6 img file again on the USB stick again.
There is also a possibility that the USB stick is defective.

Or I saw the SSL cert problem in the middle
The internet connection itself was successful,

This problem may interfere with file downloads.
Firewalls and other restrictions may need to be addressed.

It is a command that can be tested to see if there is a problem with the download.
Try it out with this command.

tc@box:~$  curl --location "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/tinycore-redpill/main/modules.alias.3.json.gz" --output modules.alias.3.json.gz

I tried your guide and followed it perfectly, but it gave me this error on building:

Could not determine if file /home/tc/custom-module/ds918p_42661.pat is encrypted or not

The file is only 4 KB so I think the download is non-existent or corrupt.

I tried booting from the USB stick anyway, to manually use the .pat, but it got stuck at "booting kernel from USB"... Nothing else happened.

Any hints on how to get it working?

attention les fichier pat ont été deplacé sur le site de Syno c'est pour cela le message erreur = ds918p_42661.pat is encrypted or not

7.1.0-42661 update 1 est sortie et le 7.1.0-42661 n'est plus en ligne .

beware the pat files have been moved to the Syno site, this is why the error message = ds918p_42661. pat is encrypted or not

7.1.0-42661 update 1 is out and 7.1.0-42661 is no longer online.

So synology has updated it to 7.1.0-42661 update1

8-1.Using the bootloader (update user)

tc@box:~$ sudo poweroff

Place the 7.1 bootloader on the bottom well

In the existing 7.0.1 henol boot state, obtain the DSM 7.1.0-42661.pat file separately from the Sinology Download Center

https://www.synology.com/ko-kr/support/download

Click the Control Panel -> Update and Restore -> DSM Update -> Manual DSM Update button and proceed with the update to the prepared pat file above.

If you are asked to wait 10 minutes after the update, use the telnet connection method that appears in the NAS column by searching for the title telnet

I'll power off.

-> using putty and telnet it using user=root without password.  after you type root then enter, it will goes to linux prompt.

By the way, if there are a lot of actual packages installed, it says that you have to wait 20 minutes.

Very few packages appear to wait 10 minutes.

If you don't want to let me go to the Wi-Telnet connection process, check the monitor to see if you want to power down when rebooting or when rebooting

I think you can change it quickly to enter TC Linux.

Sorry I tried everything to understand those bolded termins......but I dont get it!

Can you please elaborate more?

Tnx

(Notice)

The 42661 nano U1 download function, which has been changed this time in @pocopico's TC, has not been changed yet.
So, to make up for this, we added the function of pre-downloading 42661 nano U1 files to the new URL of the changed U1.
This feature allows you to avoid errors caused by downloading within TC, which is still before the change.

(Automatic updates are supported for users who downloaded after April 24, but users who downloaded before that should receive new updates.)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.This is a shell script that executes several commands at once as described in the "Redpill Tinycore Loader DSM 7.1 Build" guide.

To use, you can download and untar it as follows and use it in the /home/tc directory.

Helps build DSM 7.1 by managing the PAT file directory required for decryption.

Automatically add mac2 to user_config.json file for dual NIC, a feature that TC doesn't have.

( Manual Response Version )

tc@box:~$ wget https://github.com/PeterSuh-Q3/tinycore-redpill/raw/main/m.sh.gz; tar -zxvf m.sh.gz;

( Auto Answer Version with y )
tc@box:~$ wget https://github.com/PeterSuh-Q3/tinycore-redpill/raw/main/my.sh.gz; tar -zxvf my.sh.gz;

Where y is unnecessarily asked, it automatically responds.

./my.sh DS918+

./my.sh DS3617xs

./my.sh DS3615xs

./my.sh DS3622xs+

./my.sh DVA3221

./my.sh DS920+

./my.sh DS1621+

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Deploy scripts that you can leverage if you need to add a separate ext manually for VM users.

It includes the fuction to add exts created by @FOXBI with multiple selections like capture.

For the instructions on how to use, you can download and decompress as below and use it in /home/tc directory.

( Auto Answer Version with y )

tc@box:~$ wget https://github.com/PeterSuh-Q3/tinycore-redpill/raw/main/myv.sh.gz; tar -zxvf myv.sh.gz;

The way to use it is existing same as my.sh. Where y is unnecessarily asked, it automatically responds.

./myv.sh DS918+

./myv.sh DS3617xs

./myv.sh DS3615xs

./myv.sh DS3622xs+

./myv.sh DVA3221

./myv.sh DS920+

./myv.sh DS1621+

CAUTION) Not all exts correspond to 7.1.0-42661.
Please check @pocopico's ext GITHUB in advance and use it.
We do not respond to errors caused by unsupported revisions.

I followed the guide by @Peter Suh for the DS3615+ (the one from a few hours ago) and no matter what I do the USB gets some kind of boot error. I only saw one other user mention this error in the forum and he seems to have got past it but I can't see any record of how.

Loading Operating System ...

error: symbol 'grub_disk_native_sectors' not found

Entering rescue mode...

grub rescue>
