Advanced Media Extension will not activate dsm7.1-42661

Doing to update from dsm 701 to 7.1 broken Advanced Media Extensions... It requires a synology account, which I have, a valid serial, when it has (real from another synology box not on my lan), but immediately fails and says to contact customer service.  The rp box is listed in my synology account, but AME still wont work.

 

I see other apps have this issue, what works on 7.1?

i have the same experience with 7.1 but it is also not working in Virtual DSM 7.1.

Only Advanced Media Extension is not working all other Apps are working with a real serial number from my Synology Nas.

Yup they stated that on the upgrade process, now how they will work on non connected nvr’s, like people configuring and taking the nvr to a place with no internet (i know very unlikely), I was happy using the dva flavor of synology best update of surveillance ever and now they saw that you can use dva’s and decided to use online checks for the advanced media extensions, so if you use dva, you cant use x265.

 

So you should stay on 7.0 and AME 1.x

Working for me (ds3622xs+ on HP MicroServer Gen8).

You need real SN and MAC address AND « netif_num » argument in « grub.cfg » must match « macx » arguments.

In my particular case:
- netif_num=2
- mac1=0011…
- mac2=0011…

I can confirm this. Working with KVM ds3622xs+ with real SN and MAC and just one virtual nic: netif_num=1.

Thanks! But if I add the real SN (from a 918+) to my virtualized DVA3221 it doesn´t boot

Edit: My mistake. I made it boot. 

But I still can´t get the media extensions. It´s telling me to contact with Synology technical support 😅

Yea I don't think it will work, I will try that approach too, and see, but if you change the serial number of the dva or mac it will disable the 8 free cams, I don't know if they implemented something if you change it back, I will also try to Install AME V1 because I just need HVEC for the H265+ cams.

1.- Using a real serial and Mac of my phisical 920+ and nope, it says to contact synology support.

2.- Tried to install AVEC With package V1, but they wont let.

3.- Spoofing activation will modify the file but wont start or install codecs

 

So, I Will stay with DSM 7.0 don't see yet the benefit of moving to 7.1 if SS 9 is fully supported on 7.0 still.

Hi I think when you add a MAC adress from a synology Model and not the physical HW  MAC Numbers VMM will not be installed?

Could you confirm?

Thank you for your test. I was planning on doing the same during the weekend.. you saved me lot of work 😅.

There´s one last method that I tried and I was partially successful. I copied the contents of the "package" folder (/var/packages/CodecPack/target) from of my fully activated "virtual" 918+ installation (AAC + H265 working but only 2 cameras) to the DVA3221 installation. 

I also spoofed the activation on the DVA3221  but I only was able to "hear" from the cameras, despite the yellow circle with the exclamation was still present in the audio selection.  So AAC was working. But I couldn´t see anything from my H.265 camera. Not even on the desktop app nor the iPad app. 

 

I think I will also stay in DSM 7.0 while a solution shows up because I only use it for surveillance.

I tested in VMWare with DS920+ v 7.1.0-42661 real SN real MAC without Synology account and AME v2 did not want to update without signing in.

I had and older Synology account created on PC but without any devices added, so I decided to use that account on this test VM and success.

 

After restart there was and update.
