thepax Posted July 11, 2016 Share #1 Posted July 11, 2016 Hi there, Please forgive me if this has been covered before. I did some searches but possibly didn't use the correct terminology. I am thinking of using SHR for a new NAS I need to build at home, now I have an ancient HP Prolient Microserver that I have done the install on and everything seems to work well. But I just wanted to check, if the HP fails, can I move the drives to a new pc and load up with the usb bootloader and get access to all the data or is the process more complex than that? Thank you
sbv3000 Posted July 11, 2016 Share #2 Posted July 11, 2016 Check out Allgamers excellent post about disk groups/volumes and moving between hardware viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16933 as an aside, if your data is valuable so that you are worried about hardware failure, then have a backup on a 'cheap' other xpe/dsm build, or use something like crashplan for off site backup
