how to bypass 108 TB limit with single volume

Recommended Posts

We all know that Synology's single volume limit has three cases: 16TB, 108TB, and 200TB. I checked the relevant documents carefully, the 3622xs+ I am currently using supports 200TB, provided the memory is greater than 32GB, but when I use 40GB of memory and 10 18TB hard drives to create storage space and storage volumes (RAID5, RAID6, SHR2 have all tried ), the limit is still at 108TB, does anyone know what the problem is.

It only works on DSM 6.3 or lower. After that, they only allow 108TB. So you need to make a 200TB volume on the lower DSM version and migrate them to DSM 7.1

So you mean volume larger than 200TB cannot be created after DSM7.0? Is there an official announcement?

Thanks for the info, but I've checked this page, firstly the DS3622xs+ I'm using supports 200TB, secondly I meet the requirement with more than 32GB of RAM, in the info center I can see that my RAM is 40GB. I am using RAID6 btrfs.

as 3615/17 are supported too for 200TB, try jun's 1.03b and dsm 6.2.3

if that works try redpill 6.2.4 to create a >108TB volume

Neither model supports 200TB, so we're now stuck in a dead end.

on paper they do

and there  is also "Btrfs (Peta Volume)"

Applied models:

FS-series: FS6400, FS3600, FS3400, FS2017

SA-series: SA3600, SA3400

21-series: RS4021xs+, RS3621xs+, RS3621RPxs

19-series: RS1619xs+

18-series: RS3618xs

17-series: RS18017xs+, RS4017xs+, RS3617xs+, RS3617RPxs

DSM version: 7.0.1 and above

RAID type: RAID 6

Memory capacity: At least 64 GB

and

They do support it. I am running a few volumes greater than 108TB started from DS3617xs and now on DS3622xs. Just make the volumes using Jun’s and then create a new DSM 7 install. Migrate those disks over and you will now have 200TB on your DSM 7 installation
