6/7th intel cpu gen, 918+ possible and that still gets newer drivers as neede with 6.2.3, but as it kind of old hardware its going to work anyway

DSM does support link aggregation

https://kb.synology.com/de-de/DSM/help/DSM/AdminCenter/connection_network_linkaggr

and there is also SMB-multichannel support that would needed to be activated in smb.conf (dsm 7.1 might have that in the gui, but that just came out as beta a few days ago)

add to smb.conf

server multi channel support=yes
aio read size=1
aio write size=1

Thank you for your answer, but what about this: DS3617xs can I use it? At the moment I am using Intel i5 3570K and Jun's Loader v1.03b DS3617xs.

I am also thinking of installing DSM 7 but I am not quite sure if is ready for production - RedPill or are there any possibilities to update my DSM from 6.2.3-25426 Update 3 to 6.2.4-25556 Update 3.

sure, only 918+ has that kind of entry level when it comes to cpu, 3617 supports 16 threads, 918+ only 8 but can do intel quick sync transcoding

beside redpill there was this but i hat no time to take a closer look and it was just a 1st try and is not flashed out (yet?)

https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/56025-juns-ds918-loader-modified-for-dsm-624/

and redpill also can handle 6.2.4

but when going 7.0, there is also 3622 now and that get more attention then 3617 (even if 3617 has the same "new" thread limit of 24 as 3622 with 7.0, and both can do nvme cache - if a patch is released, imho 3617 and 3622 seem to be equal when it comes to feature and driver, only difference is that 3617 might stop receiving updates in about two years)

to get higher speeds in network there is also the realtel 2.5GB nic (918+ on 6.2.3 or 3617/3622/918+ on 7.0 for now ) and most 10G nic's

so it depends whats you are after, maybe you dont need a new hardware yet
