guyp2k Posted April 28, 2016 Share #1 Posted April 28, 2016 Currently I have Xpenology running via Hyper-V with no issues other than than the HDs attached to the motherboard SATA controllers. I purchased a LSI controller and will move the HDs over to that controller. Once I move the drives over to the new controller I assume I will lose the RAID set and data or will the RAID set and data stay intact? Thanks
Chrisoo1 Posted April 28, 2016 Share #2 Posted April 28, 2016 Well I just migrated from a bare metal XPenology box to a esxi box with an LSI controller set up as passthrough. I was pleasantly surprised when I plugged in all the drives.... Booted xpenoboot and it started up like nothing ever changed. I couldn't believe it was that easy. sbv3000 Posted April 28, 2016 Share #3 Posted April 28, 2016 i would install the lsi first, boot h-v to let it find and install any drivers etc. then swap drives to it and finally disable the onboard sata controllers. should be pretty simple but have a backup just in case
