Hi guys I searched the forum and found zip regarding vpn server functionality so I thought Id post.

So tinkering around with the DSM 4.2 3211 Vpn server installs no problem even runs im assuming but no users can connect regardless of pptp or openvpn. So the magical question of the day is Does VPN server even work at all???. I have a legit synology device and vpn works fine.. it updated to 4.3 but im sure that has nothing to do with vpn working or not right?. So is there a fix or a known bug in regards to DSM 4.2 321 xpenology?. Last I could scrounge up was the way earlier version 4.1 3202 or is it 4.2 3202.

Thanks

The amount of answers is linear to the useful info of the problem from the first post. In your case, a lot of things are missing. For example, what hardware, etc., some logs would have been nice, etc.

The reason for missing answers might also be because nobody else experienced the problem. I for one am happily using Trantor's build, PPTP VPN works fine with the LDAP server, so I have no problems with it.

I'm glad you finally came to a fix though!

it's all good, i would stick with trantors build as they seem to work out of the box.. As for the logs there wasnt much other than it wasnt reflecting the server running or attempts, whereas trantors build did.. I haven't had any issues except for plex but i think its plexs fault for not being able to index correctly thus an uninstall resolved my issues with plex (never using that product again)

I've not tried to use VPN so can't/ didn't comment. Doesn't seem worth replying to say "No idea, sorry".

its ok, but if you run into vpn issues the fix is to just use the builds by trantor all the other ones is or are flawed thus the 1 million replies.. if anything most of the replies should be thanks it works and you rock.. the end

I had no problems with Plex, exactly the opposite. Plex worked fine, indexing and all, but e.g. Transmission wouldn't even touch a folder not created by its user...
