pocopico Posted January 13, 2022 #1 Posted January 13, 2022 (edited) Hi, I'm just leaving this here in case anyone needs it. In order to start the telnet service once you end up in a recovery page, or on install page etc. You open your browser and run the following http://<your-dsm-ip-address>:5000/webman/start_telnet.cgi Edited January 13, 2022 by pocopico 5 4 Quote

I also read the post and I was "Really????" I remember that on my QEMU KVM I spent hours searching google if it's possible to access a virtual serial port. I was almost at to a point that I was going to buy a PCI-E card with serial port and pass it through... but finally searching solved the mystery and there is command to do that... Quote

Red_baron Posted May 4, 2024 #5 Posted May 4, 2024 Member 161 #4 Posted February 14, 2022 (edited) what is the default password? use root as login withou password Sadly, this is no longer true. Or at least it is not true for me. It says: Login incorrect. So Synology has changed it. Now to find out the new default password. Maybe synology? I'm off to find it. I will try to remember to come back with the answer. I'm up to my arm pits in alligators right now. Quote
Red_baron Posted May 4, 2024 #6 Posted May 4, 2024 https://blog.thomasmarcussen.com/synology-nas-recovery-password-telnet/ The password is no longer blank. Refer to this for the password. It may be default or it may be the date. See link. Quote
Red_baron Posted May 4, 2024 #7 Posted May 4, 2024 I also found that simply deleting the .pat is not enough. Something else is eating up too much space. Anyone have an idea what I can safely remove? Quote
