Mooney Posted August 30, 2022 Share #4151 Posted August 30, 2022 Hi, I am stuck at the first step..cant make the system boot from the USB which I tried to create as UEFI and CSM/LEGACY. System just wont find it at all or it booted like 2 times, but not into GUI. Am I doing something wrong? The flashdrive is working correctly (completely new one). It would help if you gave more information about your hardware.

Yeah ofc, I have a msi G45z87 MB with i5 4670k, multiple HDDs and 1 SSD, 12GB ram and old nvidia 960. I made it boot from the usb again, but got only terminal, not gui, and I cant connect to it using SSH.
rojoone2 Posted August 31, 2022 Share #4154 Posted August 31, 2022 (edited) Are you using the correct image? Which one did you burn to the usb and what app did you use? Maybe you should state a new post in the Noob Lounge instead of the Developers discussion room? Edited August 31, 2022 by rojoone2

Hi Derrik, when asking for help please include as much information as possible. At a minimum: - hardware details - baremetal or hypervisor - bootloader version - DSM version - upgrade or fresh install Can you ping the machine? Does Synology Assistant see it? Itay1778 Posted September 6, 2022 Share #4164 Posted September 6, 2022 Hi, I noticed that the update to DSM 7.1.1-42962 is out. How do you update it? Currently running DSM 7.1-42661 Update 1. Of course without losing data and without resetting the settings. Is it possible to update directly? what is the process? I have a DSM built on the DS918+ models And another one of DS3622xs+

Do you have to do the same as the initial installation process and then upload the updated file (7.1.1-42962)? If that's the way I think I'll have a problem updating... because for me during the installation I had to set "satamap=2" and after the installation of DSM finished installing then I changed it to "satamap=6" otherwise I would have errors. And if I do it again I will have problems in the raid and I will lose data. Can I just upload the file (of the 7.1.1-42962) to "Manual DSM Update" in the DSM settings? it won't work? For DSM 7.1.1-42962 need use Jun´s Mod (7.0.1-42218-JUN) or arpl alpha 6 (new update because alpha 5 works bad). Change your satamap if your need new image. Mentat Posted September 7, 2022 Share #4171 Posted September 7, 2022 (edited) There are a lot of post here and I do not know where to look. WiteWulf Posted September 7, 2022 Share #4172 Posted September 7, 2022 I'd strongly advise against running DS3615xs on an HP Gen8 (speaking from personal experience). It's known to be very susceptible to kernel panic crashes. I believe DS3622xs is considered the better choice for your hardware. Have a look here:

Mentat Posted September 7, 2022 Share #4174 Posted September 7, 2022 1. There are 4 main HDD. 2. I use the MicroSD card 3. The script detects 6 ports, but I only use 4 HDD. Should I use 4 or 6 in the config? I get corrupted file at ~40%.
