Hi, I am stuck at the first step..cant make the system boot from the USB which I tried to create as UEFI and CSM/LEGACY. System just wont find it at all or it booted like 2 times, but not into GUI. Am I doing something wrong? The flashdrive is working correctly (completely new one).

It would help if you gave more information about your hardware.

Yeah ofc, I have a msi G45z87 MB with i5 4670k, multiple HDDs and 1 SSD, 12GB ram and old nvidia 960. I made it boot from the usb again, but got only terminal, not gui, and I cant connect to it using SSH.

Hi Derrik, when asking for help please include as much information as possible.

At a minimum:

- hardware details

- baremetal or hypervisor

- bootloader version

- DSM version

- upgrade or fresh install

Can you ping the machine? Does Synology Assistant see it? What do you see on the serial console?

try an installation with some drives connected to the onboard sata, if that works you can diagnose easier via telnet and check the devices and modules, probably find that the lsi drivers are not 'working' , and btw, did you update/upgrade the boot image? > 8.0.0.5

Hi, I noticed that the update to DSM 7.1.1-42962 is out.
How do you update it?
Currently running DSM 7.1-42661 Update 1.
Of course without losing data and without resetting the settings. Is it possible to update directly? what is the process?

I have a DSM built on the DS918+ models
And another one of DS3622xs+

I have updated without issue my virtual DS918+ with Tinycore Jun´s Mod Redpill v7.0.1-42218 from DSM 7.1-42661 Update 4 to DSM 7.1.1-42962.

Ok, sounds great.

What exactly did you do to get through the update Process? @apriliars3

./rploader.sh update now
./rploader.sh fullupgrade now

./rploader.sh serialgen DS918+
./rploader.sh identifyusb now #only baremetal
./rploader.sh satamap now #optional

./rploader.sh build apollolake-7.0.1-42218-JUN

sudo reboot

Fresh install to DSM 7.1.0-42661 and then update to DSM 7.1.1-42962. Works perfectly.

I am testing with Redpill with DSM 7.1.1-42962 and recovery loop, not works postupdate. @pocopico any solution with recovery loop?

./rploader postupdate apollolake-7.1.0-42661 #not works with DSM 7.1.1-42962

I didn't quite understand.
Do you have to do the same as the initial installation process and then upload the updated file (7.1.1-42962)?
If that's the way I think I'll have a problem updating... because for me during the installation I had to set "satamap=2" and after the installation of DSM finished installing then I changed it to "satamap=6" otherwise I would have errors. And if I do it again I will have problems in the raid and I will lose data.

Can I just upload the file (of the 7.1.1-42962) to "Manual DSM Update" in the DSM settings? it won't work?

For DSM 7.1.1-42962 need use Jun´s Mod (7.0.1-42218-JUN) or arpl alpha 6 (new update because alpha 5 works bad).

Change your satamap if your need new image.
