No, just one.

How to modify this? I have to make manipulation again?

No you can keep and test changing to DiskIdxMap=0C00

While at grub press e on your selection and edit your linux line until you find the right setting. Then you can mount the USB on TC and edit the grub.cfg manually for a permanent change

I'm considering migrating from DS918+ to DS3622xs+ for various reasons and recommendations I've seen in this thread.

DSM is currently at 7.0.1-42218U3. TCRP is 0.4.5. Hardware is in my sig.

Are these the correct steps for migrating an existing DS918+/7.0.1-42218U3 to DS3622xs+/7.0.1-42218U3?

1. Backup all data

2. Create a new USB loader with TCRP 0.4.6 from pocopico github

3. Remove existing USB loader and boot with new USB loader

4. Select Tiny Core Image Build during boot

5. Run following commands

./rploader.sh update now
./rploader.sh fullupgrade now
./rploader.sh clean now

./rploader.sh serialgen DS3622xs+
./rploader.sh identifyusb now
./rploader.sh satamap now

./rploader.sh build broadwellnk-7.0.1-42218

I'm guessing that DSM will do it's own migration when I access DSM after the reboot.

Once I have a successful migration to DS3622xs+/7.0.1-42218U3 I'll be considering the upgrade to DSM7.1 and am guessing that would be the two step update but I'm not sure what the sequence of events/commands would be for that.

Anyone?

I'm hitting a wall for the last couple days and have tried and read everything possible :( and could really use some help please.

Host:

ESXi 7.0u3

VM:

Sata Controller 0

- Attach TinyCore VMDK to this controller at 0:0

PCI Passthrough:

- LSI9211-8i (Currently only have 4 disks attached out of 8 possible)

I do everything to get the build (broadwellnk-7.1.0-42661) up and running. Once DSM starts, it is showing my drives as 2,3,4,5 instead of 1,2,3,4.

SataPortMap: "1"

DiskIdxMap: "0F"

I have tried adding SasIdxMap: 0 and doesn't change anything. I have tried changing the DiskIdxMap and it doesn't change it either. Whatever number I put in the SataPortMap, then an equal number of starting drives are taken. Example, if I change it to 2, then Disk 1 and 2 are empty and my Disks start at 3. If I remove SataPortMap or put it = 0, then my DSM won't load.

Goal: My Drives passed through on my LSI9211-8i to be disks 1-8 and the loader to be hidden.

I know this is probably something simple but I am hitting my head against a wall trying to solve this for my OCD brain. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I try to install under proxmox 920+ with 7.1.0. Loader is booting, find.synology.com find the 920+. I click connect, the next screen is: Dont detect hard drive in DS920+.

918 and 3622xs works for me under proxmox with 7.1

What is wrong?

920.JPG

Does everyone else work and find hdds 920+ with 7.1?

Can you both try recreating the loader ?

./rploader.sh ext platform-XXXXXXXXX add https://github.com/pocopico/redpill-load/raw/master/redpill-misc/rpext-index.json

I've modified the script on redpill-misc extension for identifying missing HW to match the modules-load.d files. it should work for both. Tries to find CPU capabilities and NVIDIA GPU existence to disable the following:

   acpi-cpufreq on -> /lib/modules-load.d/70-cpufreq-kernel.conf
   crc32c-intel on -> /lib/modules-load.d/70-crypto-kernel.conf
   nvidia       on -> /lib/modules-load.d/70-syno-nvidia-gpu.conf
   nvidia-uvm   on -> /lib/modules-load.d/70-syno-nvidia-gpu.conf

thanks @pocopico

it works now (TSU) in my older CPU where it does not have SSE4.2 and speedstep.
recreated the loader.

You need to remap the drives. When using a lsi card what I understood is it will always start one disk higher.

I have Microserver gen8 running on ds3622xs+ 7.1 with no issues, however my cpu is core i3, also there is one step less which I used to compile redpill for gen8

ie omit this step while building loader

./rploader.sh ext broadwellnk-7.1.0-42661 add https://github.com/pocopico/redpill-load/raw/master/redpill-misc/rpext-index.json

Please remember SataPortMap is actually there to limit the number of available disk ports per controller.

Controllers are enumerated as listed in lsscsi -Hv in that order. If you want no limits for a controller leave this open. E.g. no SataPortMap.

The DiskIdxMap has to do with the disk numbers and how the disks will be represented to the system. Its a two digit hex value per controller.

If you set DiskIdxMap=00 the first controller port/disk will start at 00. If you set DiskIdxMap=0008 the first controller will start at 00 and the second controller will start at 08.

Thank you for your explanation @pocopico,

I would like ask additional question. If want change above settings in working system, do I need start over again creating new  loader (and edit file user_config.json)? or is there possibility to change above on existing working loader?

Thanks

You can change that from within DSM or withing TC by editing grub.cfg which is on the first partition of the loader

All steps are necessary for any install just to be safe, and yes you need to answer yes to any question asked, or there is no point in running the command yes ?

I added the acpi extension to loader:

./rploader.sh ext apollolake-7.1.0-42661 add https://github.com/pocopico/redpill-load/raw/master/redpill-acpid/rpext-index.json

The build is successfull, it write acpi2 added to loader

I start the dsm 7.1, it boot, but the power button dont work. If I press it, the dsm dont halt.

I tired it before under 7.0.1, there it worked
