I installed a separate intel nic and tested all the bios and uefi 0.4.6 variants with DSM 7.0.1 of the tinycore/redpill loader but i can`t still not get any dhcp adress or access to the DSM setup homepage. @pocopico I`ve tried to setup your tcrpdiag command in GRUB to give me a hint but unfortunately, i can`t get some disgnostic data. there ist nothing stored on my usb bootstick, in any folders of all partitions.. Do i have to setup this tcrpdiag command in the build command or can i place it normally with "e" in the GRUB boot screen so i can get some additional data for further research? Thank you for your answers! Dominik Its an extension, you have to add it as you do with any extension before you build the loader.

Hi @pocopico Thank you for your respond and information. I`ve successfully added the extension with sudo ./rploader.sh ext broadwellnk-7.0.1-42218 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/main/tcrp-diag/rpext-index.json and build the uefi-loader 0.4.6 for DS3622xs+ after that. Unfortunately, i still don`t get any diagnostic data, when i add the tcrpdiag command in grup with "e".. Any further suggestions/solutions..? I Can`t telnet/ssh, because i don`t get an ip-address and that`s the reason for needing some disgnostic data. Sry, i`m a beginner in grub/linux and xpenology, i hope, you can help me. After the collection is triggered it will take about 120 secs before it’s launched. So leave it for about 5 minutes after you edit grub and boot. You will find the file under /mnt/sda3/diag folder Edited March 24, 2022 by pocopico

I leave the boot for 10 minutes and the message "starting kernel with usb boot" is displayed, but still no data.. Should there be more information on screen? How can i check, that the boot has been done? I guess, i have a boot-problem, the kernel can`t fully boot and that is the reason, i don`t get a dhcp adress... Btw, there are no build errors, anything is green and i tried different usb sticks. Dominik Edited March 24, 2022 by Dominik

RacerX Posted March 24, 2022 Share #1614 Posted March 24, 2022 Quote Do you select USB while at GRUB ? and have you set VID:PID correctly using : ./rploader.sh identifyusb now pocopico In my Proxmox VM's Process wise when I finish loading the scripts I stop the vm and then when I restart the VM it defaults to boot usb. then I ping the ip when it and it it pings I open the the install in another window. Xpnoology installs correctly until 55% when it gets currupted. I did not run the Identifyub script because i'm not using a usb stick. But I can run the script, it's simple. One more thing with adaptec test. I can see the drives on the controller in bios. Proxmox does not support adaptec at all. When I load the extension with the script will dsm be able to see my drives? Or is it better test to try EXSI where I can pass thru the controller?

Jizar Stoffel Posted March 24, 2022 Share #1617 Posted March 24, 2022 Hello, it has taken me 4 days to read thru this topic, and finally come out with a woking DS3632xs+ DSM 7. Although I was able to update from my 6.2 on the first try with DS3615xs... but after the 1st reboot I lost all my files because of errors after errors! (no matter, thats what backups are for) Here is my problems now... In order to be able to install the DSM without getting the Drives Error (3,4 blablabla)... that has to do with "SataPortMap (SPM)" and "DiskIdxMap(DIM)" , I set my settings to SPM 1 and DIM 00. That got me all the way to installation on DS3622 and Found 1 drive. After that I rebooted the machine and on the Loader Menu I pressed "e" and manually changed the SPM to 64 and SPM to 0004. and Got a fully working 8 disks, I went ahead and install all my main apps. (Plex, sonarr, radarr, jackett, etc). Had it all working fine for 2 days. Due to a power outage. the machine got reboot it and when it came back on, there were only 1 drive in the system and a bunch of errors... Fine, I reboot again, Pressed 'e' on loader menu, edit the lines again... and pressed F10 and got all my drives back. Then I tried to reboot into tinycore and manually change the user_config.json to reflect the changes I made. I saved it but when I reboot it, the values were not saved... So I read that TC only saves into RAM and the values gets reseted on reboot, And I should ssh into TC and run the "sudo ./rploader.sh backup now" command to save it, but now for some reason, everytime I reboot into TC the new values are there, but it does not transfer to the installed loader. Am I going to have to redo the whole process from scratch? or is there a way to permanently save the changes on user_config,json to reflect the installed Loader? If I have to reinstall the whole thing , should I set SPM to 64 and DIM to 0004, and if I get the same drives errors, Ill just 'e' on loader menu and change it to 1 and 00. just for the install and then let it reboot normally? 2. I had a USB 1gb NIC working on 6.2. On DSM 7, it finds the USB NIC but it does not load as NIC or LAN2, I only have the LAN1 from my onboard NIC (which is only 100mb) I also tried adding a PCI 2.5Gb card, but that does not work yet, maybe missing EXT. I already post a request on the github page. and I did add a mac2 to the user_config.json. just not sure is the changes are sticking to the loader on reboot. I really dont mind the NIC problem, my onboard card does a pretty decent job send 4k movies to my TVs on plex. as for files, I have a 10Gb card on my PC serving as file transfer intermediate. my BareMetal setup is: I7 4790s on a Intel H81 MB 16GB DD3 4 port on board SATA 4 port PCI SATA card - had a 8 port before, but that gave me lots of headace messing around with SPM and DIM.

FYI: my H81 intel Motherboard has 4 fisical SATA port. but on bios and on TC it says it has 6 ports... after some research I found out that Port 1,2,5,6 are the fisical ones. and port 3 and 4 its up somewhere in the 4th Dimention... thats why it gives the drive error (3,4.... blablabla, disable crap)

Hackaro Posted March 25, 2022 Share #1621 Posted March 25, 2022 (edited) @pocopico @IG-88 Recently I've installed RedPill-TC (0.46-uefi version) with DSM 7.0.1-42818 on my hardware (in signature) and everything is working pretty well after one month of testing. But one small problem is with HW acceleration of my iGPU... my CPU is an i3-8100 and its Device ID is 3e91 which, from this old (DSM 6.2.x) link , is supported OOB from Synology DSM (at least the 6.x version). After installation, I booted normally "keeping SAtaPortMap=6" which detected all 3 SATA disks) @pocopico Just want to bring to your notice that I am having issues using TG3 drivers. TinyCore Linux is able to detect the NIC and rploader build script was fetching TG3 driver from https://github.com/pocopico/rp-ext/blob/main/tg3/rpext-index.json. But unfortunately after reboot, no luck getting DHCP request. I tried mostly all other builds but encountered same issue. Bought a new PCIe Card which worked flawlessly for completing installation. Even now my setup is still not detecting On-Board Nic Tigon3 (BCM57788) and that was the reason I was not getting DHCP request initially. For your reference find below output for TG3 card initialization from ==================== tinycore-redpill Linux output ===================== root@box:/home/tc# dmesg | grep -i tg [ 1.399900] libphy: tg3 mdio bus: probed [ 1.414234] tg3 0000:03:00.0 eth1: Tigon3 [partno(BCM57788) rev 57780001] (PCI Express) MAC address d4:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx [ 1.414236] tg3 0000:03:00.0 eth1: RXcsums[1] LinkChgREG[0] MIirq[0] ASF[0] TSOcap[1] [ 1.414237] tg3 0000:03:00.0 eth1: dma_rwctrl[76180000] dma_mask[64-bit] ============================================== Broadwellnk-7.0.1-42218 DS3622xs+ (after finishing installation) ============================================== [ 4.669636] tg3.c:v3.137 (May 11, 2014) [ 4.671035] libphy: tg3 mdio bus: probed [ 4.671098] tg3 0000:03:00.0: No PHY devices [ 4.671200] tg3 0000:03:00.0: Problem fetching invariants of chip, aborting It sounds like tg3 driver is not getting loaded due to variation in chip!!
