Seems all OK, extensions for virtual machines are downloaded and installed. Tried ifx440 machine, nic ie1000, mount image as usb, as sata

It is recommended to use rploader.sh without sudo.

This seems to cause some error logs.

And even though -JUN was not given in the build option, it is also abnormal that the result was built with YET JUN MODE.

It seems to me that sudo might have had an effect.

Alternatively, using the m shell below is fine.

Required exts can be added by multiple selection in myv.sh.

At the Tinycore Linux prompt, download and install the following m shell (myv.sh)

tc@box:~$ wget https://github.com/PeterSuh-Q3/tinycore-redpill/raw/main/myv.sh.gz; tar -zxvf myv.sh.gz;

And then all you need to do is simply run ./myv.sh DS3615xs (or ./myv.sh DS3622xs+ recommended)

I have finally resolved the problem, seems the new version don't autodetect that its a virtual machine with virtio interfaces, necessary for nic, pci pass-trough, etc. I have to install this extension:

./rploader.sh ext bromolow-7.0.1-42218 add https://github.com/jumkey/redpill-load/raw/develop/redpill-virtio/rpext-index.json

Now I have the 7.0.1 versión if i want to install the  7.1 version I need to install the extension again after a clean?

Hello,

I have some problems with my installation. I have a working installation with Proxmox v7.1 with q35 VM and virtio nic DS3615 with DSM 7.0.1-42218, it works until now that I have make rpload update and fullupgrade. I have decided to make a new virtual usb installation, this time only with rploader update, all seems to work ok, but DMS is not detected on lan. I've made a network scan without success.

Someone with the same problem or any help?

Regards

Hi

Why use q35 in proxmox? It is better than i440fx?

If you use my m shell as below, clean will already be processed.

./myv.sh DS3615xs

Otherwise use ./rploader.sh clean now .

If redpill-virtio is not automatically added, you can also add it in advance.

Jun Mode of m shell is set to 7.0.1

./myv.sh DS3615xsJ

None Jun Mode is set to the latest version 7.1.0.

./myv.sh DS3615xs

q35 have pcie pass-trough support and i440fx not (only pci), so theoretically if you use SATA controller pcie pass-trough as I use, you have more disk speed "theorically". Like virtio nic vs e1000 nic, the firts is less cpu usage and more fast than the intel

@Peter Suh what is the difference between  Jun Mode and non Jun Mode?

jun mode is the method used by the jun loader that supported up to dsm 6.2.3 in the past. It is also called jun's old trick.

The original Redpill Loader does not respond flexibly to the major version upgrade ex) 7.0.1 to 7.1.0.

If a major version upgrade occurs, you need to build a new loader for that version and make it.

However, in jun mode, there is no need to do so, simply update the pat file in the control panel of dsm.

Instead, the first version of jun mode should start with build 7.0.1-42218.

Please refer to the introduction of jun mode by jumkey below.

Depends on if you’ve used the buildroot option or not

Wait, to be clear, you guys are saying by building a 7.0-42218 loader using @jumkey juns old tricks loader you can simply upgrade from a 7.0 build to 7.1 build like a genuine syno-box (this I knew). But are we sure it will would take the next upgrade? I did not run Jun 104b dsm623 for long at all before joining the redpill faithful ;)

And I am assuming to use the jumkey juns old tricks buildroot method you have to be on q35 in proxmox?

In fact, both pocopico and I coded jun mode in rploader.sh and m shell, respectively, without test verification for jun mode.
Probably because pocopico does not have an environment to test with bare metal, I test mainly on proxmox, and I test on bare metal.
However, it seems that we have not yet encountered the success story of TCRP's JUN MODE.
I'm also late testing with bare metal.

The build was successful, but the 55%~57% file corruption message continues to be encountered during the DSM pat file installation process.

Although redpill-misc ext is installed,
ttyd does not work, and only telnet connection is possible, and only root / 101-0101 connection, which is emergency mode, is possible.

It seems a bit early to talk about the next process in a situation where there is no successful installation result in TCRP.
It's hard and exhausting to have to have a conversation with @pocopico for long debugging.

Today's bare metal DS3622xs+ Jun Mode installation test log is attached.

There seems to be a question about TCRP JUN MODE issue with a similar problem to me on the topic of jumkey.

OH!? I did not even try it, as I am waiting until the .dts/dtb process for 920/1621 models improves - that was my big wish for jun mode, improved (automated) dts/dtb creation.

So still no successful builds with tcrp + juns mode. Sorry to hear that, I thought it was working....

Perhaps there was no publicity for the new @jumkey's jun mode,
It seems that users did not even try more because they do not know what this is.
Rather, the interest in the new dtc upx utility was higher, so it may be left unknowingly.

There have been several attempts for jun mode in the tool-chain, and it seems that we have seen successful results.
There seems to be a relatively low level of interest in TCRP.
For JUN MODE to be activated, it seems that many users need help with testing.

But, as you said, can it run smoothly with DSM 7.2? It cannot be ruled out that the question remains.

@phone guy et al

There have been repeated requests for documentation on TCRP for some time. What that part of the community wants is something that works in a reliable sense, and isn't too terribly technical or complicated. The recent Tutorial posts are intended as a response to that.

This post is in a development thread.  We need to start separating dev effort from a mainstream path that the majority of users should be encouraged to follow.  For example, the new tutorials don't reference JUN/JOT mode because it isn't very well tested yet.

DTS/DTB support is experimental and incomplete.  It works, but not in a very repeatable sense and with consequences that most users don't understand, even with previous 6.x experience.  There are several different approaches to solve the problem that may eventually work and become mainstream.

JUN/JOT is experimental.  It's very much a dev feature and nobody knows whether it will really work in the long term for future versions.  But that will become apparent over some time. And if it is the best option, it will probably become the only option. We didn't know if Jun's 6.x loader would work for successive upgrades either - and in fact it didn't for 6.2.4 without some tweaking.

@pocopico

@pocopico

I build DVA3221 under PVE 7. Hope to Turn off the kvm. I used the following command to add ACPI. But it doesn't seem to work. Where did I do something wrong?

        ./rploader.sh ext denverton-7.1.0-42661 add https://github.com/pocopico/redpill-load/raw/develop/redpill-acpid/rpext-index.json

I see someone suggesting that you use https://github.com/jumkey/redpill-load/tree/develop/redpill-acpid/rpext-index.json. Is there any difference between them?

TCRP has already been converted to jumkey's new dtc port auto-dynamic mapping method,
Sometimes this method doesn't work well.

In this case, manually model_ds920p.dtb or model_ds1621p.dtb

You just need to prepare the file to compile.

It is good to compile the model_#platform.dtb file directly with dtc,
If even this does not work, edit install_rd.sh as shown below

You can also add the dtc compilation command one line in advance.
It is a method that can be applied immediately to a case that has succeeded in the actual test.

./my.sh DS1621+ noclean

cd redpill-load/custom/extensions/redpill-dtb/ds1621p_42661

cp /home/tc/ds1621p.dts .

lspci -tvnnq

ll /sys/block

vi ds1621p.dts

...

        internal_slot@1 {

                protocol_type = "sata";

                led_type = "lp3943";

                ahci {

                        pcie_root = "your device information";

                        ata_port = <0x0 your target port number>;

                };

...

:wq!

vi install_rd.sh

#add in line 7

./dtc -q -I dts -O dtb ds1621p.dts > model_ds1621p.dtb

:wq!

./my.sh DS1621+ noclean

The option to build the Juns Old Tricks (buildroot) + kexec is totally @jumkey effort. I studied and understand the way it works. There are some issues noted, such as the ones you are mentioning and others that i dont want to discuss at the moment.

In general i think that having Tinycore on your loader is a major and essential liberty. Buildroot is what was missing for the automation of the on-the-fly process of the upgrades. We need to look at the remaining issues but its totally doable and issues are fixable.

@phone guy, The same process that is used on JoT is the same that we use to create our loaders. if the process for buildroot process fails on the next upgrade, all of the loaders will fail as well. Juns loader failed mainly because of the syno kernel upgrade that would have ofcourse happen at some point. Redpill is open and code is available for compilation for a future kernel upgrade.

55% corrupt files is a limited effect mainly on the DTB model, cause not all values are patched.

IMHO, we need a C developer to write some code that will process the dts on the fly and perform these actions without having to include the Java libraries that are consuming about 4MB of space. I dont have the required skills to write it and all other programming options will result in including additional libraries.

Hi guys.

Currently battling few issues.

First issue is that 1 of the 4 hard drives are getting detected. Been battling this but no success.

Second issue is that every single time I try to make a change in user_config.json on the second boot the changes are overriden. I've set SataMapPort = 6 and DIskXMap to 00 and on second boot it's again SataMapPort= 1 and DiskMap = 00. My hardware is HP Z420, 4 x SATA drives. TinyCore  0.4.6 DS3622xs+.

The user config gets replaced when you clean, update or fullupgrade. So run those first and after you've got your TCRP fully updated, you can manually edit your user_config.json before doing the build command.  This tutorial has everything you need to sort your issue

@phone guy there is a not very well advertised option you can use for that.

./rploader.sh restoresesion

this will restore the user_config.json and the extensions list that you've used the last time you created the loader.

unfortunatelly, someone advertized the removal of all backup and auxfiles at the end of the loader creation.

@flyride The static modification of the DTB file might be the only option for some, so the redpill-dtb has been restored and the extension name and address has changed to redpill-dtb-static and has been moved to rp-ext repo :

"redpill-dtb-static" : "https://github.com/pocopico/rp-ext/raw/main/redpill-dtb-static/rpext-index.json"

custom_config.json now points to redpill-dtb-static by default.
