Hello,

I downloaded and burn tinycore-redpill.v0.4.6 to my USB drive and boot it to my HP Microserver Gen 8 with 4 disks. However, I cannot make it work.

Commands shown below.

My questions:

  1. My system is using Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU G1610T @ 2.30GHz with 2GB RAM. Is the DS3615xsbromolow-7.0.1-42218 a good choice?
  2. There is no modules.alias.3.json.gz  modules.alias.4.json.gz  latestrploader.sh on my drive. Is it normal?
  3. There are SSL certificate problem: certificate is not yet valid errors. Are they expected?
  4. Do I need the pciid 8086d00001c02 and pciid 102bd00000533 extensions? If yes, how can I locate and include them?

Many thanks!

does my user_config.json get saved during backup? and does it restored during clean command? or do I need to always replace config with my config for all future updates repairs etc to rploader?

What I noticed when I updated to 7.1 is that the user_config.json was replaced during the "fullupgrade" command. The clean command did not replace my config. The "fullupgrade" command creates a backup of your previous files though somewhere in /home/tc/.../old.xxxx.{date}

@Pocopico and All

I’m putting my documentation together for building my 2 new DS3622xs+ ESXI VM’s and had a question about extension URL’s. I noticed throughout this thread various URL’s been used in different forms, so is there a standard we should all use when using the “./rploader.sh ext <platform> add <url>”?

Which is preferred long term:

https://github.com/pocopico/rp-ext/blob/main/<extension>/rpext-index.json

or

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/main/<extension>/rpext-index.json

Thanks for all your hard work

@pocopico and All

When adding extensions and doing a build, is there a command, file or folder to check to see what extensions have been added after running a “./rploader.sh build <platform>”.

I would like to check/verify what extensions are added in TCRP after doing a build, either on a standard build or one where I’ve added extensions.

Thanks

@Pocopico and All

I’m putting my list together of what extensions to add for a standard DS3622xs+ ESXI VM build and have come up with the following so far:

#  “ACPI”
./rploader.sh ext broadwellnk-7.1.0-42661 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/main/redpill-acpid/rpext-index.json

# “MPT3SAS”
./rploader.sh ext broadwellnk-7.1.0-42661 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/main/mpt3sas/rpext-index.json

# “PVSCSI”
./rploader.sh ext broadwellnk-7.1.0-42661 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/main/vmw_pvscsi/rpext-index.json

# “VMXNET3”
./rploader.sh ext broadwellnk-7.1.0-42661 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/main/vmxnet3/rpext-index.json

The one I’m not sure about is the “redpill-misc” I can find it in the “redpill-load” repo but not in the “rp-ext” repo, should it be in the “rp-ext” repo? (Just my OCD kicking in that’s all)

./rploader.sh ext broadwellnk-7.1.0-42661 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/redpill-load/master/redpill-misc/rpext-index.json

I’ve seen mention of “Telnet Extension” before, but when I check the “rp-ext” repo there are actually 2 listed, not sure which one to use or if it’s even needed

Extension Name: "Early telnet start" Description : "Simple extension which starts telnet early at boot"
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/early-telnet/rpext-index.json

Extension Name: "Early telnet start" Description : "Simple extension which starts telnet early at boot"
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/raspbi-pill/rpext-index.json

Are there any extension that would be “good to have” on a build for troubleshooting or information purposes?

Thanks

I added the acpi extension to loader:

./rploader.sh ext apollolake-7.1.0-42661 add https://github.com/pocopico/redpill-load/raw/master/redpill-acpid/rpext-index.json

The build is successfull, it write acpi2 added to loader

I start the dsm 7.1, it boot, but the power button dont work. If I press it, the dsm dont halt.

I tired it before under 7.0.1, there it worked

Same here on Proxmox

This happens when the PAT download is interrupted, you need to clean and start again

It seems that some drivers are incompatible with 7.1, I had issues updating a Microserver Gen8 with a mellanox Connext x 3 shutting down after installation, so I disabled the card, built the loader so that it does not include the mellanox driver, updated and then reenabled the card, after this the system booted up with no issues

I had to redo one of my nas box (serial num issue) and on the first build, I forgot to check the user config, which got replaced with "stock" config I think after building the 701 image since I did a clean before building 7.1 image, so I had to rebuild 7.1 again with my user config... but if it does a backup, I just assumed clean replaced your files? I guess not... lesson learned, verify user config before issuing each build command.

I've been trying to install DS3615xs DS3617xs DS3622xs+ in VM (qemu/kvm).

@gadreel @seanone could You post some VM configuration for Unraid?
There where a lot of problems on Unraid even with 6.2 and Jun's loader, but no one wants to share their knowledge.

I’ve seen mention of “Telnet Extension” before, but when I check the “rp-ext” repo there are actually 2 listed, not sure which one to use or if it’s even needed

Early telnet is not required anymore. Please note that ttyd (that is included in redpill-misc) rendered this extension obsolete.

to access TTYD while in junior mode : open your browser in http://<yourip>:7681 the user is root.

Please note that when you do a fullupgrade the overwritten files will be moved to /home/tc/old

But never replaced automatically? so we have to manually move them back as needed. Good to know... A great option would be restore. Or check during build command if /tc/old/user_config.json exists, ask if we want to use its config file... just a suggestion.

@pocopico When I migrated from 6.2.3 to 7.0.1 the tinycore image was at version 0.4.4.

Updating from 7.0.1 to 7.1, I run the update now and fullugrade commands on the existing 0.4.4 image and did not download the image version 0.4.6.

Everything went well I just want to know if there is an issue if I remain on 0.4.4...

On my N54L, it seems to have a problem with USB drivers (or other, I'm not an expert)

  • the control panel doesn't find my bluetooth.
  • And it doesn't find my inverter (eaton ellipse pro 650).

Is this working for someone?

Hello,

I have a ASUS X550J laptop and can't figure out sata map. It has 2 sata ports, one for hdd and one for odd, but the lspci says it has a 6-port sata controller.

The pic bellow is with sataportmap=6 and diskidxmap=00. If I set sataportmap=2 and diskidxmap=00 it says no hdd found. Any ideea? Thanks

@pocopico I had similar problem as @blindspot did.... I used the satamap command and got "sataportmap=2 and diskidxmap=00" and got similar error build 3622xs 7.1.0-42661.

I changed sataportmap=1 and was able to see 1 hdd. I removed sataportmap line and was able to see 2 hdd. The board has 4 ports, couldn't get 3 and 4 to show a connected hdd.

Was there ever a solution to this problem?
