Successfully run bromolow-7.0.1-42218 on ESXi 7, just converted vmdk to ESXi format with

vmkfstools -i "hdd-from-git.vmdk" "correct-esxi-hdd.vmdk"

Will try DS3617xs, need more cores.

Many thanks!

Doesn't work unfortunately. DSM installation either says no devices found or the drive error as shown in the screenshot.

Try your Diskid as 0C, this was the default for 6.2. I wasn't able to install 7 on my baremetal Dell Poweredge T320. I was able to go back and install 6.2, currently running.  I had absolutely no problem. Now What I also did was chage SasIdxMap to 1. Also my Satamap was 1 as well. Try and see if this works for you.

@pocopico So I was able to get 6.2 installed on my Dell Poweredge T320 with no problems.

When altering the grub file, the only thing I changed out of the ordinary was the SasIdxMap which I changed to 1.  Created raid 5, and volume.  And I rand dmesg and I got the following.

@synoxpe If I understood right, you did a bare metal installation and use a usb-stick as boot device. In this case none of the suggestested changes for SataPortMap or DiskIdMap make sense.  Why would setting the SataPortMap to 1 make sense if the only detected device is on port 3 (or was it 2?)? Why would it make sense to set the DiskIdMap to 0C if the machine uses a usb-stick to boot? Please stick to the auto detected ones you shared earlier.

It realy must be something with how the sata controller of your nuc works. I understood that you are already able to use the single detected port (and disk), but get the error that two of three ports are not usable and get disabled. If I am not mistaken the H-Type Nucs have space for a single 2,5" drive and a single Sata-Connector on the ingrated board - so there is no way to make use of the two failing ports, even if detected properly in DSM. Appart of beeing an anoying error message, does it actualy prevent you from using rp? If you are, I would suggest to wait for pocopico, maybee he has a theory on why the error is raised.

Some sata controllers seem to work in mysterious ways...

Dear all,

I have tried out the RedPill loader along with this tinycore environement and I am getting stuck just after rebooting :

The Synology assistant detects disks error and stops the SATA controllers :

image.png.cb579341cb8bc04fc7c3f0dedf594e21.png

My initial machine is DS918+ / DSM6.2.3 update 3 with jun's loader

I am trying to upgrade to DSM7.0.1

I think I have done correctly the user_config operations (sataportmap = 6 / diskidxmap = 00 and I am using the previous mac address and serial)

But rploader.sh sends a warning during the build :

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It looks that you will need the following modules :

Found SATA Controller : pciid 8086d0000a282  Required Extension :

No matching extension

Which corresponds to the SATA / AHCI controller ; effectively there are none declared in the "modules.alias.json" file corresponding to 8086 / A282.

I suspect I should put an entry here, but which one ?

The HW is a ASROCK B365 M mothe'rboard with intel core i3.

Many thanks for your help and congrats to pocopico for this nice job.

Cubitus.

Hello Guys,

After having successfully managed to get my HP Microserver Gen8 running with a DS3615xs 7.0.1-42218 image, I would like to know if anyone has managed to get it running with DS3617xs on baremetal platform ? For me, I always fail at the point to install the related pat file.

Thanks in advance

So I'm late to this party... but flashed the tiny core loader to a flash drive and went through the "process". this has been the fastest i've ever brought up an xpenology box... my only challenge was that for some reason my bios had the sata controller set to IDE rather than AHCI... changed that and redid the satamap... and blam... it just works...

setup is a 3615xs on i5 3470, 12gb ram... there's 3 disks in the machine (1 upsets synology because bad sectors) and a gt520 graphics card.

that said, i'd be happy to test things on there now that i know it works (my main xpenology box is staying untouched on 6.2.3 for another while)

I've been testing this and have set up a few DSMs.  I wanted to see if these will update properly via Control Panel, Update & Restore but I found something strange.  Clicking on release notes in any of these builds do not go to the Synology release notes for the OS.  Instead, they go to

http://example.com/null.xml?model=DS3615xs&update_version=25556

http://example.com/null.xml?model=DS3615xs&update_version=42218-2

Anyone else see this, and is this expected for RedPill?

Hello

I have installed DSM 7, SataPortMap = 4
DiskInxMap: "00"
extensions: mpt3sas

disks that are connected to the motherboard work fine, but the disks that I have connected to the Dell PERC h310, unfortunately, the system sees them, even if they are all connected, it numbers correctly, but I cannot initialize it, it has a problem with reading SMART data, once from one disk once from the other. I am sending the screen.

the first 4 disks are the controller on the motherboard. I changed the parameter SataPortMap = 48 , SataPortMap = 66

there is no difference

I was creating a bootloader using the following extensions in different configurations:

sudo ./rploader.sh ext apollolake-7.0.1-42218 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/mptspi/rpext-index.json
sudo ./rploader.sh ext apollolake-7.0.1-42218 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/mptsas/rpext-index.json
sudo ./rploader.sh ext apollolake-7.0.1-42218 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/mpt2sas/rpext-index.json
sudo ./rploader.sh ext apollolake-7.0.1-42218 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/mpt3sas/rpext-index.json

And

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/aacraid/rpext-index.json

Unfortunately, with the use of these extensions, I get into a loop during DSM installation, install DSM, the system restarts and wants to reinstall DSM as if nothing was there.

If i am not mistaken you may not add all the mptXsas drivers. Try with mpt3sas alone first. I think you have the same LSi card as mine. Appololake didn't work for me. DS3615xs worked. Tinecore adds mpt3sas, i added mpt2sas as advised by pocopico.

A working bootloader only has mpt3sas. When I add other installations, it loops for me.

I will try the DS3615 soon, I will let you know, I will do according to your post

Not working, loops installations.

It follows these steps:

sudo ./rploader.sh update now

sudo ./rploader.sh serialgen DS3615xs now

sudo ./rploader.sh identifyusb now

sudo ./rploader.sh satamap now
(I change here in the file to SataPortMap = 4, DiskIdxMap=00 This configuration worked with bootloader jun)

I add:
sudo ./rploader.sh ext bromolow-7.0.1-42218 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/mpt2sas/rpext-index.json

Later:
sudo ./rploader.sh build bromolow-7.0.1-42218

Turn on, detects DS3615xs without a problem, no errors, installs DSM, system goes restart to restart and does not start DSM, indicates DS3615XS as not installed.

Am I making a mistake somewhere? Can anyone advise on how to set up SataPortMap and DiskIdxMap.

Synology is sending out updates during the install process. If you are having issues installing fine and then the first reboot it wants to migrate, you need to cut your internet or block synology's servers.

Ran into this issue last night working on a DS3617 box

./rploader.sh ext bromolow-7.0.1-42218 add *url*

for 3615xs

replace „bromolow-…“ With matching device Type and Version so you’re fine.

Add *url* of your choice of Repo at Github, mostly recommended Pocopico‘s ones.
