TinyCore RedPill Loader (TCRP)

ive tested it..

on esxi after converting the vmdk its not bootable.

within vmware workstation it is booting.

but within the tinycorelinux ive got a couple of problems..

ssh is not installed and enabled.

after installing openssh and enabling/starting it this works.

next problem is that the scripts arent executeable after transfering them

with chmod +x rploader.sh this is done.

but unable to start them after, cause the env variables for starting bash scripts isnt setup properly..

after doing this i only got a lot of warnings within the rploader.sh script in a couple of lines...

tested with the acutally newest verision from the repo (9days old v0.4.4)

I did it the hard and slow way by converting the image file with Starwind V2V converter, you get an vmdk and vmdk flat file. They just work.

@killseeker

I tried, still nothing.  When running satamap nothing. Here is the build ran.

That's a shame dude :( Curiously, have you tried 3615XS?.

I know between my two NAS's both have MPT 3 Raid controllers, one detected on 3615XS the other on 3617XS didn't. Perhaps its a 3617XS compatibility problem? I wasnt able to try 3615 on the one that didnt work with 3617XS yet.

Im going to try 3615xs right now. You could be right with the compatibility (hoping not, but looks like it). @pocopico

Thn for all support guys yesterday, 7 is now running on my esxi!!

Mine is no installed but hopefully itwill get past the 10minutes counter and boot trough completly, then i hope i can just put the vm drives of my old dsm 6 vm to the dsm7 vm

and get everything up and running

And it did not it failed somewhere during the 10 minute count down atthe end it gone to something went worng and now its reloading

Any one can help here,
It keeps gooing back to recoverable with the 7.0.1-42218 broadwell package the bromolow package doest even boot

VM Config
4vcpus
8GB ram

50GB sata drive clean on Sata conroller 0:0 it detects it

the 1GB boot vmdk on sata 1:0 it boot fine from it to the Sata shim version

Put the vmdk on sata0 and 0:0 and your data drive on 1:0. Then it will surely work

You can create the pool without any problem (not volume!!!!!). Then you will have to repair the installation partition. That is also ok. Did this yesterday and didn’t lose any data.

when i tried to create a pool it stated it needed to format drives

Can it be that the old nas is a 3617xs and new one 3615xs

also the old one runs DSM-6.3.2-25462 new one 7.0.1-42218

i will try to do it later to day again and check the message and snip it to add to here

My harddrives came from an DS918+ 6.2 and went into a DS3615XS 7.0.1. I also got the warning that it would reformat my disks when I wanted to fix the volume so certainly don’t do this. But when you check the pool, it found the pool. It recognised it as a raid 1 and I just had to restore the pool and it automatically finds the volume. I forgot to printscreen it. I will check if I can find a way to recreate it and will send a printscreen. Because I am not sure how stable it is, I am running two systems at the moment.

If you use the 50 Gb vmdk, and install everything on that disk on dsm 6.x. You can move the packages and so on to that disk. Then you create a dsm 7.x with a new vmdk disk that is big enough. Then you disconnect the harddrives from dsm 6.x. You remove the defected storage pool. You setup a migration from dsm 6.x to dsm 7. It copies everything, users, packages, to the Ddm 7. Then you attach your hdds back to dsm 7. After reboot it recognises the storage pool. Then you have your data back. Then you repair the installation partition on your disks. And everything is back as it was. Probably the slow and hard way. But it works.

Wow cool way to get a bit less nervous in updating to the new Version…

Since I took the even harder way: Backup, Install, destroy…try error repeat, learn…try succeed recopy, pray, resync data from cloud…pray again…reconfigure external disk to raid 1 instead of raid 0…cop again…stop praying.

Sleep well…

Hi,

system partitions are RAID1 arrays accross every configured disk of your DSM.  They are always /dev/md0 and /dev/md1 and consist always of partitions 1 and 2 of the disks e.g.

/dev/sdd1          2048   4982527   4980480   2.4G fd Linux raid autodetect
/dev/sdd2       4982528   9176831   4194304     2G fd Linux raid autodetect

partition 1 is the root file system and partition 2 is the swap partition.

You can verify its status by running :

mdadm --detail /dev/md0

mdadm --detail /dev/md1

It happens that the array is missing some of your disks partitions and then it reports that the System partition is failed on some disks. You should check the sizes for your partitions and if the match the above then you can add them to the system array and/or swap array by executing

mdadm /dev/md0 add </dev/your disk partition1> or mdadm /dev/md1 add </dev/your disk partition2>

@pocopico - Took me a while to get back to this as life got in the way. I have checked the disks and get the following detail.

Based on this detail, they don't seem to match what my disk config shows, should / can I use the command you provided or should I look to do something different? Any pointers from you or the community would be great.

Other than this one issue, everything else is running great and stable.

Hi, and how many disks do you have ? Can you check with mdadm —detail /dev/md2 ?

I tested the redpill-DS918 + _7.0.1-42218 image (DSM_DS918+_42218.pat) (i found img image on the net, i just changed vid pid sn mac and satamap) on the physical Asrock Beebox N3050 (NUC) machine, sataportmap 2 configuration, installation and configuration works fine, sleep after 10 minutes works fine, WOL works fine, data space creation ok.

nuc + 2x2.5 hdd 1TB + 1 usb boot

sleep 4W

run idle 8W

max 15W when it boots up or performs heavy work.

The only problem I have noticed so far is that sometimes the network card shows 100MB and sometimes 1 Gigabit, my entire network is 1 Gigabit and the cable is functional and tested on other devices.

I also tested 2 older machines (laptops) 2gen intel (dell e6320) and 4gen (fujitsu e734), unfortunately, there were still problems with supposedly damaged disks

Have you guys had any luck with Lets Encrypt SSL certificate?

It shows as Not Secure:

I have created DDNS with Duck DNS sucessfully.

Ports are open both in router and DSM firewall.

Certificate is created with Lets Encrypt:

Redirect to HTTPS is turned on

I'm not sure what's the problem here?
