MajicMOLE Posted March 11, 2016 #1 Posted March 11, 2016 Hi everybody - after a bit of advice I have been running XPEnology for the last 12 months - has been fantastic! However today i broke my USB pen drive! (bent it whilst installing new laser printer!) - cant for the life of me get it to read on any machine so where do I stand? Im I right in assuming all my settings are stored on the pen drive, including plex installation? I Have ordered a new pen drive as dont have any spare so will load the xpenology image onto that - but will it just boot, or will I need to re-install? And before anybody asks, iv got no backups of my pen or my settings! Schoolboy error! Regards Lewis
billat29 Posted March 11, 2016 #2 Posted March 11, 2016 If you load the same version that you broke and you hadn't modified the image - say to change mac address etc, then it should boot and DSM should come up OK. DSM, your applications and their settings (such as Plex) are installed onto the HDDs so I would expect them still to be there.
abced Posted March 11, 2016 #3 Posted March 11, 2016 DSM doesn't motify content on USB at all, so just put the same image on it (and do the same modifications, if you did any) and you are good to go. Everything that DSM needs to run is on HDDs.
MajicMOLE Posted March 13, 2016 Author #4 Posted March 13, 2016 Worked a treat! Just when I was expecting to have to reconfigure everything! Thanks a lot for your support
