Hi Trantor.

I Thank you for all the effort and time that you put into this.

After update:

- all basic stuff are still working (Restart, Shutdown, WOL, Package Centre, Intel® I217V - LAN, installed packages )

- all 6 x SATA3 disc are stil present

- did not lose any data (migrate)

- What I dont see any more is my UPS, I assume that USB does not work.

I want to try this on ESX5.1 but I always fail to converted the IMG image to VMDK. I'm really in the interest to have VT-d working and pass through all my hard drives to DSM.

Try using StarWind V2V Image Converter to convert IMG to VMDK for me it is working

+1 for StarWind V2V Image Converter. It can convert IMG <-> VHD <-> VMDK

Instaling on ESXi 5 is working, but when i retsrat it it will give grub error 22.

I trun off the VM, replace the boot disk and aftre that turn it on again, but the setup will start again from the beginning

Synology assistent said configuration lost

I'm not an expert with ESXi, but have to take a look in ESXi thread viewtopic.php?f=2&t=558 ?

BrF6Rs7.pngqqkTd6w.png

Does two VM disks, are they IDE or SCSI?

Does spindown work for you?

For me installation is working, but when i shutdown the VM, attach my LSi raidcontroller, turn it on, it will auto power off the vm after 1 minute.

yes both disk are IDE and spin down works, auto power off happened to me when there was no support for the card.

i have auto power off with a my lsi 9260 and with a scsi vm disk on the paravirtual adapter,

Do you use starwind v2v to convert the img?

Here a screenshot of it

Thanks working great on kvm (proxmox).

Thanks for including config.gz. Did you apply any other changes to source beside the config.gz?

I want to start and shutdown the VM when start/shutdown the server. proxmox is shutting down the VMs over acpi. This is not working at the moment. In the config CONFIG_ACPI_BUTTON=m is set, but the modul button.ko is missing. Any idea?

Edit: Did some more testing by myself. Recompiled busybox with acpid. But i am missing /proc/acpi/events. Can you add CONFIG_ACPI_PROC_EVENT in your next release.

Thanks.

Hi Trantor,

- Add / update Network / SATA / SCSI / SAS / USB drivers

Could you please add drivers for Adaptec's cards http://www.adaptec.com/en-us/downloads/linux_source/linux_source_code/productid=sas-7805&dn=adaptec+raid+7805.html

Many thanks in advance!

Adaptec drivers buit-in the kernel (in changelog):

Adaptec AIC7xxx (New Driver)

Adaptec AIC79xx U320

Adaptec AIC94xx SAS/SATA

Thanks.

mapero

I will PM it to you, and yes ACPI_PROC_EVENT will be in next repack. The question is : like module or built-in ?

Yesterday I tried all USB ports (MB USB2,USB3, USB3 PCI CARD, CARD Reader with USB3) ... on my SYNOLOGY & they do not work.

These is also the reason, why UPS is not recognized .

Yes for the moment USB external drive are seen like esata. OHCI is OK because USB keyboard is working and PS2 to USB adapter too.

Your DS3612xs DSM 4.1 ++ worked like a dream no issues. I know some linux but not alot so any info you need just let me know. I would like to get this stable. it is running stand alone. sorry ment to say cannot access ssh or web interface.. was early in the morning after a long day at work.

Hi Trantor!

Thank you for noting my msg, though I am afraid I was talkig about different drivers - aacraid for SAS/SATA RAID Adapters rather than HBAs, or I completely misunderstand something?

PS: would enabling CONFIG_DEVPTS_MULTIPLE_INSTANCES allow virtual port creation to communicate with synobios? If so please enable too.

Thanks for your response.

After some struggling i build my own Kernel (you posted in an other thread how you did it, thanks) with working acpi support and some drivers for KVM guest maschines. ACPI is working so far, but it will not shutdown "complete". Linux is going down, black screen, but still powered on. Not sure whats wrong. Maybe you could release your source for kernel somewhere? What i did:

1. Downloaded 3201 source and applied all changes from andys git manuell.

2. Used your .config with the following changes (KVM and ACPI):

$ diff .config .config_org
265,274c265
< CONFIG_PARAVIRT_GUEST=y
< # CONFIG_PARAVIRT_TIME_ACCOUNTING is not set
< # CONFIG_XEN is not set
< # CONFIG_XEN_PRIVILEGED_GUEST is not set
< CONFIG_KVM_CLOCK=y
< CONFIG_KVM_GUEST=y
< CONFIG_PARAVIRT=y
< # CONFIG_PARAVIRT_SPINLOCKS is not set
< CONFIG_PARAVIRT_CLOCK=y
< # CONFIG_PARAVIRT_DEBUG is not set
---
> # CONFIG_PARAVIRT_GUEST is not set
401c392
< CONFIG_ACPI_PROC_EVENT=y
---
> # CONFIG_ACPI_PROC_EVENT is not set
404c395
< CONFIG_ACPI_BUTTON=y
---
> CONFIG_ACPI_BUTTON=m
872d862
< CONFIG_VIRTIO_BLK=y
1186d1175
< CONFIG_VIRTIO_NET=y
1490d1478
< # CONFIG_VIRTIO_CONSOLE is not set
2279,2280d2266
< CONFIG_VIRTIO=y
< CONFIG_VIRTIO_RING=y
2285c2271
< CONFIG_VIRTIO_PCI=y
---
> # CONFIG_VIRTIO_PCI is not set

3. Build busybox from here:

https://github.com/Vincentxiaojie/xpenology-4.2-busybox

with acpid support.

4. Added the following to /etc/acpi/ :

DiskStation> cat /etc/acpi/PWRF/00000080
#!/bin/sh

poweroff
DiskStation>

Todo: Startup script for acpid; Fix poweroff-bug

Trantor,

I just ordered a 24bay Supermicro system from eBay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/171078773991?ss ... 1497.l2649

http://www.supermicro.com/aplus/motherb ... 8dme-2.cfm

The Supermicro H8DME-2 motherboard in this system contains the following.

- nVidia MCP55 Pro SATA2 3.0Gbps Controller

- nVidia MCP55 Pro Chipset Dual-port LAN / Ethernet Controller

Additionally, it also comes with 3x Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 SATA cards (Marvell Hercules-2 Rev. C0 SATA host controller)

http://www.supermicro.com/products/acce ... t2-mv8.cfm

1) Does the current release contain the SATA and Ethernet drivers for the nVidia MCP55Pro?

2) Does it contain the driver to support Marvell Hercules host controller?

Thanks. I'll be testing it out once I get the hardware. I'm just curious about the compatibility prior to receive the hardware.
