I just recently built a bare metal xpenology box and during the process installed the base 5644 pat file. Is it required to install update1 and update2, or can you install update2 and it will include all of update1 within update2. Also do you need to go to install/upgrade menu to update, or can that be done using the ui?
polanskiman Posted January 17, 2016 #2 Posted January 17, 2016 Updates are incremental. You can install update 2 without installing the 1st one. Personally though I always stay one or two updates behind (unless the updates are severe issues being addressed) even with my genuine Synology and even more so with Xpenology for obvious reasons. With Xpenology you can update within the UI BUT I would recommend you do it manually, that is, downloading the .pat file outside of the UI from synology's website and then uploading it manually to your Xpenology within the UI.
