byallmeans Posted October 24, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 24, 2021 (edited) Hi all, Apologies if posting under wrong thread, admin please feel free to move. I noticed after my recent installation of DSM 6.2.1 the performance is very poor compared to my previous 5.2 setup. Not sure if it's HDD read/write related by over it seems extremely slow starting from login and browsing, ending with file transfer and usage of DSM File app. Some outputs here for my hdd performance: root@sin-nas01:/dev# cat /proc/mdstat Personalities : [linear] [raid0] [raid1] [raid10] [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] [raidF1] md3 : active raid1 sdc3[3] sdd3[2] 1948692416 blocks super 1.2 [2/2] [UU] md2 : active raid1 sdb3[0] 204893184 blocks super 1.2 [1/1] [U] md1 : active raid1 sdb2[0] sdc2[1] sdd2[2] 2097088 blocks [12/3] [UUU_________] md0 : active raid1 sdb1[0] sdc1[1] sdd1[2] 2490176 blocks [12/3] [UUU_________] root@sin-nas01:/dev# hdparm -t /dev/sdd3 /dev/sdd3: Timing buffered disk reads: 444 MB in 3.00 seconds = 147.98 MB/sec (<-- which is looking good) root@sin-nas01:/dev# hdparm -t /dev/sdc3 /dev/sdc3: Timing buffered disk reads: ^C (<-- it just stops there and have to Ctrl+C to terminate) I'm a noob when it comes to DSM and linux in general. Are there any well-known issues that I failed to read about and is there a way to improve performance? Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks!
