Using AMD Athlon x2 250

Hi,

I have an old machine with AMD Athlon x2 250 with 4GB of RAM and want to convert it to DSM. 

A couple of questions:

1. I am not sure which loader I should go for. Will 1.04b work?

2. What are the steps to prepare the USB?

3. Will USB always need to be in or will the DSM eventually work without the USB?
