additional lan card supported by last XPEnoboot

Hello,

someone could provide a list of lan drivers included on the last release of XPEnoboot please ?

or a list of gigabit PCI or PCI-E lan cards supported with XPEnoboot ?

I went to the http://xpenology.me/compatible/ page, and SEE that TP-LINK TG-3468 (Realtek RTL8168) was ok, so I bought it, but this card is not compatible with XPEnoboot.

This card works with trantor release, but I can't upgrade (DSM 4.3 for now).

So any help please.

Thanks.

Please help.

I just want to buy a compatible gigabit lan card (PCI or PCI-E).

I assume I can't trust the cards listed on the compatible XPEnology page, so if someone use some lan cards with success, please tell me.

In other way it would be great to know what are the supported lan drivers in XPEnoboot 5.2-5644.4 (or previous).

Thanks for the work that was done.

TP-LINK TG-3468 (Realtek RTL8168) was ok, so I bought it, but this card is not compatible with XPEnoboot.

r8168, r8169, r8101 drivers are included in XPEnoboot 5644.4, so your card should work.

In 5644.4 the old/crappy r8169 driver has been replaced by the "updated" one frome realtek website.

r8101 : RTL8101E, RTL8102E(L), RTL8103E(L) and RTL8107E
r8168 : RTL8168B/8111B, RTL8168C/8111C, RTL8168CP/8111CP, RTL8168D/8111D, RTL8168DP/8111DP, and RTL8168E/8111E
r8169 : RTL8169S/8110S, RTL8169SB/8110SB, and RTL8110SC.

Did you try to boot with linux live cd and check with lspci -vv what drivers is used for this card ?

In other way it would be great to know what are the supported lan drivers in XPEnoboot 5.2-5644.4 (or previous).

YES

If I find some time I will start a list.

Hello Trantor,

Thanks a lot to get time to answer:

I tested this TP-LINK TG-3468 (Realtek RTL8168) PCIE card with every XPEnoboot images avalaible with no succes.

My mainboard went dead because of a bios problem, so I replace it with one I had for spare (GA-G33M-S2H), but have no luck with the integrated lan: RTL 8110SC chip.

So I went to the compatible XPEnology page, and saw the TG-3468 so I bought it on amazon.

As I said I tested every versions of XPEnoboot images, with the same result (eth0/eth1 not running).

-> this is a driver problem.

It is the same with gnoboot and nanoboot, I can't success with this card (eth0/eth1 not running).

The only way to have XPEnology running with this lan card is to use one of your old releases with synoboot, with synoboot, it runs great !

I'm now running your release DSM 4.3 3810, but this release have issue, so I can't "open" the diskstation over the net ...

I went to the TP link site, and saw (too late) there's two revisions of the TG-3468, mine is rev 2.

This linux page says this card (rev1 and rev2) "is fully supported by the kernel module r8169 and gets loaded automatically".

So I think drivers from your release are better than the ones of the last XPEnoboot img ...

***********************************************************************************************************************

To know compatible lan cards and chipset would be great (in making choice when needed to buy mainboards and lan cards).

To know how to add missing drivers could be more than great, but I expect this is not very simple ...

***********************************************************************************************************************

So, is there's some hope for my lan card ?

If no, which lan (gigabit) card (PCI or PCIE) can I buy please ?

thanks a lot for everything.

...

PS

Did you try to boot with linux live cd and check with lspci -vv what drivers is used for this card ?

I will try.

Hello Trantor !

r8168, r8169, r8101 drivers are included in XPEnoboot 5644.4, so your card should work.

In 5644.4 the old/crappy r8169 driver has been replaced by the "updated" one frome realtek website.

r8101 : RTL8101E, RTL8102E(L), RTL8103E(L) and RTL8107E
r8168 : RTL8168B/8111B, RTL8168C/8111C, RTL8168CP/8111CP, RTL8168D/8111D, RTL8168DP/8111DP, and RTL8168E/8111E
r8169 : RTL8169S/8110S, RTL8169SB/8110SB, and RTL8110SC.

Did you try to boot with linux live cd and check with lspci -vv what drivers is used for this card ?

ok ... so ...

Integrated motherboard LAN: RTL 8110SC

additionnal Lan card: TP-LINK TG-3468 (Realtek RTL8168) PCIE

- Trying last live debian 8 on a usb stick and did:

lspci -nn

result:

03:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200] : Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller [10ec :8168] (rev 06)
04:05.0 Ethernet controller [0200] : Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL -8110SC/8169SC Gigabit Ethernet [10ec :8167] (rev 10)

But, I need to say none of the two Lan worked on the live debian 8 (I can't access to the net).

- I was running on 4.3 3810, I did a lot of search and found (difficult to find) you last release I think DS3612xs_5.0_BETA.

I updated from 4.3 with success, Synobios is ok with the TP-LINK TG-3468 (RTL 8110SC don't work).

So I opened a terminal and did:

lspci -q

result:

03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL811/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 06)

************************************************************************************************************************************

There is something wrong with RTL drivers on XPEnoboot I think (may be RTL drivers are crappy  ).

You said:

r8101 : RTL8101E, RTL8102E(L), RTL8103E(L) and RTL8107E
r8168 : RTL8168B/8111B, RTL8168C/8111C, RTL8168CP/8111CP, RTL8168D/8111D, RTL8168DP/8111DP, and RTL8168E/8111E
r8169 : RTL8169S/8110S, RTL8169SB/8110SB, and RTL8110SC.

Even if 8168 and 8110SC are supposed to be supported by XPEnoboot, I can tell you it's not ...

And it's was not supported by (gnoboot either nanoboot): I tested every loader images none was working with these LANs.

The only loader that is ok is Synoboot.

So ... ???

Any help would be appreciated.

I 'd like to have a chance to acess to the next releases ...

Thanks.

PS please share your old release on your download mirror, there are great because they give a lot of hardware compatibility.

...

If none of your both cards work with debian8, there is something wrong with your setup.

You said that you have switched bios chip ? Maybe an IRQ issue or something like that.

My test machine have RTL8101E and RTL8168D/8111D chip and both are working in 5.x builds.

EDIT:

After checking the content of synoboot-4.3-3810 release it only include r8168 and r8101 driver not the r8169.

Test booting with 5.2-5644.4 and/or 5.2-5592 and add rmmod=r8169 to GRUB / syslinux.cfg /isolinux.cfg

This will unload r8169 driver and let r8168 to handle your card.

Like I said before 5644.4 include "new" r8169 driver. It shouldn't create conflict with r8168/r8101 like the one present on previous releases.
