What hardware are you using?

Hardware: Laptop Compaq NX7400

Processor: INTEL Core i3-4130

Internal memory: 4GB

Drives:

  • 2 x Seagate HDD 2.5"1TB ST1000LM024 S-ATA2 8mb (removed CDplayer for second disk. Using a drive-bay)
Maybe it's possible to put the 2 drive in RAID-1 but i'm not intended to do so.
  • 1 x 1TB Freecom drive
  • 1 x 512mb usb Thumbdrive (Xpenoboot 5.2)

Packages running:

Downloadstation

Proxyserver

java 8

Craftbukkit

Adjusments: Mac addres and Serial

DSM version: DSM 5.2-5644 Update 3

Why using a laptop:

I wanted to achieve a low powered solution.

This setup consumes 15 watt in idle state and 18 watt when waching movies and players using Crafbukkit.

System is running 24/7 and stable.

Labtop lid allways closed.

Main purpose:

Movie and TV-show content only.

And the extra you get when using a laptop (depending on state of battery) :

It keeps running for 1 or even 2 hours when there is a power outage.

I was about to buy an entry-level Synology DS, but then I found out about Xpenology, so naturally I tried it right away. No problems whatsoever. I have had this little ITX board for several years as my Ubuntu server/HTPC and it served me great. Now, seeing that the installation and setting up went flawlessly, I can hope it will continue to make me happy.

Just wanted to post my skylake build. To make people available to google it, or ask questions.

CPU: Intel Core i3-6100T

Ram: Kingston HyperX 8GB DDR4

Motherboard: Gigabyte H170N-WIFI

HDD: 5x4TB WD RED

Case: Silverstone DS380 +

CPU-Cooler: Noctua NH-L9i Low profile

PSU: Corsair SF450 450W

Everything seems to work (not the WIFI obviously). EXCEPT my LSI 9211 i8 HBA. It works on SHR-1 but as soon I create a SHR-2 diskgroup the system crashes, and the diskgroup fails and need a rebuild. (And it repeats, so a whole system wipe is necessary)

Any ideas to a solution is welcome.
