Offtopic, there were some questions why someone would want 10 Gbps networking...well Digi ISP (RCA-RDS) Romania announced new subscriptions for 10 and 2.5 GBps. 10 Gbps costs 10.11 EUR/11.72 USD(50 RON) and 2.5 Gbps costs 9.10 EUR/10.55 USD (45 RON). That is for FTTH , fiber to the home, no need for business subscription. So...I guess 10 Gbps is the new standard, or ar least 2.5 Gbps.

We need to push 10 Gbps cards compatibility.

This has been covered a few times in this thread. You need to mark the first partition as "active" using something like fdisk. The Gen8 BIOS is a bit weird and needs this to be able to boot from USB sticks.

Thanks for your reply, but it dont solve the problem.

I'll be waiting like others members ;)

Thx

Weird, works fine for me once I mark partition 1 as active. Are you putting it in the same USB port that your working Jun's bootloader stick was booting from? The rear USB definitely don't support booting and I'm not sure about the front ones.

no, there was fiber to the building since 2003 maybe, in a block with apartments there was fiber and a switch where that fiber entered. On the individual apartment, from that switch you got UTP.  Fiber to the home is from ~ 2014. They work with ZTE and Huawei ONTs.

That was a big jump from EOC with fiber directly in the buildings...

Now the smallest subscription is fiberlink 500 Mbps 6 EUR ... there is nothing under.

I use Win32DiskImager for writing .img-file to USB-drive. Easy to use, the drive is bootable.

The Gen8 has no Intel network card, right? Try it with an Intel card.

I just have an ASUS P5G41T-M LX

With ICH7 it is nearly the same as my test nas SS4200, so I would say it should work. But your network is from Atheros, maybe the driver is missing. Driver extension may work?

I pay 300 uah(12$) for 1000mbit. Its pretty small price for this speed in Ukraine))

Just wanna ask, which router should be for 2.5 or 5gbp ?

Now I'm using custom pfsense based router on j3455.

Yes, I used the same USB port and tried the rear too.

On startup, we dont need keyboard to enter or other I suppose, cause I never wired a screen on the server. Fake hope inside 😁

Thanks ;)

Hello,

On virtualbox and DS918+ 7 and 7.1, I boot with no link  up, it seems virtio has no effect on kernel > 4 and virtualbox, but it works on proxmox !  did you have this same observation ?

So I have tried using module made by @pocopicoe1000, and it works great ! Thx to you.

I also tried, your e1000 module 3.10.108 with ds3615xs, I do not know why ! Just I can ... so ...   But it causes kernel panic on every boot.

I therefore allow myself to warn testers : be careful and try modules one by one to find the one that works and the one that doesn't, some modules will pose problem.
