Thx for explaination. Basic img (without any driver) works with 918+ img on my baremetal (i7-8700). Not working with the same img 920+. That's my previous question. You cannot use a cpu older than Haswell to be working with 918+. I was thinking that's the same thing with Geminilake. I cannot have serial port on this baremetal, cannot see what's not working Edited February 27, 2022 by RedwinX

AlexFullmoon Posted February 28, 2022 Share #3731 Posted February 28, 2022 A minor question about DSM 7 (since I'm not sure anywhere else on forum fits). I want to plug in USB UPS. Yes, I know Synology dropped USB support. I've tried a couple ways to enable some USB devices, but apparently they are for wireless dongles only. Or something. As lsusb shows only loader flash. |__usb1 1d6b:0002:0310 09 2.00 480MBit/s 0mA 1IF (ehci_hcd 0000:00:12.2) hub |__usb2 1d6b:0002:0310 09 2.00 480MBit/s 0mA 1IF (ehci_hcd 0000:00:13.2) hub |__2-3 f400:f400:1100 00 2.00 480MBit/s 500mA 1IF (HP v165w AA00000000006633) |__usb3 1d6b:0002:0310 09 2.00 480MBit/s 0mA 1IF (ehci_hcd 0000:00:16.2) hub How would I check what drivers I need? Please make a backup first, as always. The upgrade is simple, and works fine (tested on 5 xpenology in production --> upgrade from jun's loader 1.04b/1.03b). For sfp+, what's your card reference? You can use extension from @pocopico. Just give me the reference of your card, and I will told you which driver used.

Peter Suh Posted March 3, 2022 Share #3750 Posted March 3, 2022 (edited) If you build a new Xpenology img file with Tossp's redpill-tool-chain, you don't need to install Ubuntu separately. If you only have the existing Xpenology installed, you can go to SSH and use it as below. All you need to do is install the docker package in advance in the Xpenology. (docker demon) It's the basic package of the package center, so just install it. And, I tried to run it right away without going into root authority, but I just got Help as below. You don't need to install jq either. You don't need to set the chmod +x execution authority of redpill-tool-chain.sh Root account access is required with the sudo su or sudo -i command. Please add the LAN or HBA card driver you need as the guide. Just build and auto, and that's it. platform_user_config.json is created as an editor, so you have to look at the separate hand. The case below used DS3622xxs+ broadwellnk_user_config.json. If I use it well, I think I can use it as easily as TINYCORE. Linux Ubuntu was installed separately, docker environment was established, and it became very easy. Is it the first thing I found right? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- admin@NAS5:/volume1/_REDPILL/redpill-tool-chain-master$ ./redpill_tool_chain.sh Usage: ./redpill_tool_chain.sh Actions: build, auto, run, clean - build: Build the toolchain image for the specified platform version. - auto: Starts the toolchain container using the previosuly build toolchain image for the specified platform.
