There is a bit to read and decide what you are going to do. I would start to test first all steps on VM to good understand what you are doing. https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/62221-tutorial-installmigrate-to-dsm-7x-with-tinycore-redpill-tcrp-loader/ https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/61634-dsm-7x-loaders-and-platforms/ https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/60130-redpill-tinycore-loader-installation-guide-for-dsm-71-baremetal/

Install with SataPortMap=1 (or 2), after successful installation, delete SataPortMap option and add sata_remap=4\>2:5\>3 option. Your disks will show 1, 2, 3 and 4 My motherboard is H81 based. satamap now reports that port 3 and 4 are bad (disabled). I used sataportmap=2 for the installation. I add sata_remap=4\>2:5\>3 line to the grub.conf but the DSM still shows me ports as 5 and 6 not as 3 and 4.
pigr8 Posted August 21, 2022 Share #3995 Posted August 21, 2022 does anyone know it the fake smart data shim on the hdd/ssd in redpill can be implemented for virtual nvme disks too somehow? dsm wont allow to use a virtual nvme vmdk as cache because it gives critical error on smart lifespan, from what i understand that shim was never implemented in redpill.. am i correct?
