what version did you came from?

vm or baremetal?

if you have access to serial then you should see a log when booting up, anything special like errors, drivers not loading?

whats the loader? if you just updated from 6.2.3 to 7.0.1 you would either need to undo the unfinished update (and keep the old loader)  or continue with a new redpill loader

Hi,

From version 7.0-41890 to 7.0.1-42218.

From loader tiny core to tiny core.

How I can undo install?

I can provide serial log if needed

Compiled 7.0.1 with last BSP patch and works perfect ;)

- Add UEFI support.
- Deleted twice EFI folder.
- Fixed SynoBoot_EFI place.
- Compiled with last BSP Patch for 7.0.1.
- Insmod efi_gop into EFI.
- Tested with Baremetal and works fine (Astock 3455-ITX).
- After installation (the reboot process can take 15-20 minutes) you have to install File Station manually: https://www.synology.com/en-us/support/download/DS918+#system (select DSM 7.0), find and download File Station SPK and install it in Package Center.

Hi,
could someone make available again the version of the .img file for UEFi?

Thank you.

guys, is there something wrong with the 6.2.4 loader?

I have an Hp Gen 8 , with esxi, the bootlader is on sata disk 0:0 , my extra hard disk is at sata disk 0:0

i have below configured

    "SataPortMap": "2",
    "DiskIdxMap": "00"

if i do this : sudo ./rploader.sh build bromolow-7.0.1-42218

i can perfect install a DSM 7 system, it works perfect had it running for a few days, during .pat upload the installed told me DSM is going to be installed on DISK 2

i do the exact same process, now with this command, a clean host in esxu

sudo ./rploader.sh build bromolow-6.2.4-25556

i upload that specific pat file, again i get the message that it will install on disk 2 , it completes to 100%

i do a reboot, but its back at the setup start again?? for a new .pat file upload?

whats wrong?

After this reboot, i'm back at point 1

what could be wrong?

Any chances you could share your VM config that you used for your DSM 7 build?

I got a HP Microserver Gen 8 also, running ESXi 6.5 U3; spent most of yesterday trying to tinker and just couldn't get it to install.

Thanks in advance!

Unless SMART requirements suddenly changed with DSM 7 this is a red herring.  DSM will always attempt to pull SMART data, but the only things that I have seen that actually rely on it are Cache health and RAIDF1.  The log errors you show have been there all along.

Syno does customize the SMART code, and hardcodes for SCSI queries even though the underlying drives are usually SATA.  This causes issues with certain controllers that have been manifested in various ways through the different DSM versions.

Some additional info here:

https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/29581-suppress-virtual-disk-smart-errors-from-varlogmessages/

Also:

  1. Check your device for appropriate Syno disk tagging using udevadm. If it is a usable disk it should return SYNO_DEV_DISKPORTTYPE=SATA
    # udevadm info /dev/sdx
  2. Is 16GB large enough to create a Storage Pool on DSM7?

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread. I've 918+ running (4 HDDs as SATA passthrough) successfully on proxmox, only gripe being fake SMART info. Keen to discuss how to fix SYNO_DEV_DISKPORTTYPE=UNKNOWN:

root@ds918p:~# udevadm info /dev/md0
P: /devices/virtual/block/md0
N: md0
E: DEVNAME=/dev/md0
E: DEVPATH=/devices/virtual/block/md0
E: DEVTYPE=disk
E: MAJOR=9
E: MINOR=0
E: SUBSYSTEM=block
E: SYNO_DEV_DISKPORTTYPE=UNKNOWN
E: SYNO_INFO_PLATFORM_NAME=apollolake
E: SYNO_KERNEL_VERSION=4.4
E: SYNO_SUPPORT_XA=no
E: TAGS=:systemd:
E: USEC_INITIALIZED=685493

Download redpill-helper by @haydibe

Fill in the user_config.json

Build loader for your hardware

Flash image which you got in previous step

Boot up with new loader

Hi members, I would like to share my experience.

I have HPE micro Gen10 and I have installed 7.0.1 with update2 without issues, just using tinycore.

Just worth mentioning after the succesfull installation, bios boot order changed from the USB to the installation disk.  After fixing the boot order, I can load the OS.

Thank you @pocopico for the tinycore.

I apologize for not reading all of this thread, but has anyone attempted migration from VM with Jun’s loader and DSM 6 to redpill?

I’m keen to experiment with red pill in a separate VM from my “production”, but eventually would need to migrate disk array. I suppose it may be as simple as pointing redpill VM at the disks and letting it “adopt” then the way DSM does when you switch between native Synology products.

Hi all,

What are you using Proxmox or ESXI or Baremetal?

How to update the img file on a Proxmox or ESXI?

I'm using a baremetal now for a few years and always made a new USB stick when it was necessary to update DSM.

But I don't know how it works on a Proxmox or ESXI?

Thanks!

How did you install u2? Tinycore installs 7.0.1 for me without update 2

Hello everyone. Tell me if it is possible to put a Version: 7.0.1-42218 Update 2 by updating Version: 7.0.1-42218 directly from the DSM system manually? Or do I need to reassemble the bootloader and install it with a new pat? Fix the answer in the header, I think a lot of people will ask.

The wakeonlanscript under /usr/local/etc/rc.d which works since DSM 5 doesnt work anymore. Someone know how to fix it (HP N54l) under DSM 7?
